We just got back from a vacation in Ireland. Rode BMW's around the country for 8 days and spent a couple days in Dublin being a tourist. Previous to this trip I had always thought the Australians were the nicest people I'd met. But I think the Irish might have them beat. Dublin was more like your big city around the world but once you get 20 miles out in the country it's like the people are there just to help you have a good time. It was without a doubt the best vacation of my life. The BMW's were a little disappointing though. Uncomfortable especially for the passenger and the torque band required a lot of shifting. It would have been nirvana to have the I/S on those roads. I will try to post some pics and videos if I can get my pea brain to figure it out. Just wanted to say what a GREAT time we had

Very jealous! Hope you can get the pics posted...
So far it's gonna be hard to beat the people of South Africa for the friendliest, and the countryside of the Cape for the most beautiful, but I'm hoping to get the chance to try someday!

I totally agree! Went there back in 2006. We were on a tour bus and went to Dublin, Killarney and Galway. Had some great conversations with the locals. The country itself is gorgeous and would love to go back again! Woody

I hope you do too . I should put a caveat on my post, I haven't been to South Africa or many other places but I have seen a few. I totally agree! Went there back in 2006. Woody Did you get to Clifton ? The road from there to Westport has to be my favorite MC road to date.

You weren't by chance there with a large group tour organized by an Irish folk band from KC, were you?

Through my travels, mostly Navy, I found that 99% of folks just want to help and have fun. Different language, no problem. Different culture, no problem. Different food, no problem. Whats the problem?
I know, but its really overcomable.

Very jealous. We've always wanted to do that. I've spent time in Dublin, but it was always on business. Hard to see the country from the inside of a hangar. I love the music out of Donegal and hope to get there one day.

Some of the most memorable times we had were going to a local pub after a good day of riding and listening to some locals over a couple brews. I'm not much of a music aficionado but one night we went to a pub in Doolin and 3 guys started up. 1 on guitar, 1 on accordion , and 1 on some kind of modern bag pipe thing. THEY WERE AWESOME ! I'm going to try to find some of that music to edit in a movie of our travels.
