Sorry to hear of the misfortune... but glad to hear it wasn't as bad as it could have been.  Bike can be fixed or replaced.  body parts not as easy.
Prayers from Massachusetts for a quick and complete recovery.

I'm glad things did not turn out worse and am praying for a speedy recovery with no pain. Like Strider said they are experienced riders and its shocking to hear.

Hate to read posts like this.
Dave and Faith are good people, but why does fate allow the good to get hurt?

Pam and I will pray for a speedy and complete recovery.

.....Just want to thank everyone for your prayers and thoughts,
you folks are awesome. Im trying to get past feeling sorry for
myself....whats done is done. Faith is doing okay, considering
what happened, and Id appreciate it if you keep her in your prayers.
Im definitely sore, but will survive, guess Im just lucky I landed
on my hard head. This is the third time in 40 years that Ive been down,
last time was 1981, when an Iranian kid with his driving permit cut
me off at a red light, making a left hand turn. I swore after that little
adventure that I would NOT go down again....oh well.

....Anyway...the bike is trashed pretty good on one side, with almost
nothing wrong on the other. They are supposed to come tomorrow,
and give her a look see and tell me how much they "think" its worth.
Progressive has been good to me so far, but Im not too optimistic,
I told Faith the conversation will probably go something like.

.....Yeah...she sure is shiny and all. . ...but shes also 14 years old with 100 thousand miles on her.. .

........we shall see.. .

. . .....Oh yeah....Like I said......Faith is in bad shape with broken bones and all,
so I thought it was a good Idea to cancel the Q ...again....but she said...
......NO WAY.....ARE YOU FRIGGIN CRAZY ?!?!?!? ..  Shocked

. ......Soooooooooo.......The Q is STILL ON ! ..  cooldude

. .....Again.....Thank You ALL for keeping us in your thoughts n prayers..

...One other thing. Ive been in the wind on my own bike, for over 40
years now, and on the back of my ol mans Harleys since I was 8.
After my last accident, I made a concerted effort to "become a better rider".
To make an effort to always "see dangerous situations" when I came upon them.

In the past I have read two or threes stories about other people who experience
a "rear flat" and either go  down because of it, or almost go down and say
it was a miracle that they didnt. Im here to tell you that this wasnt my first
rear flat, and in fact we had one doing close to 80 mph, towing a trailer on our way to the
GOTF a few years back. In that incident the rear tire was punctured by
something in the road, and lookig back now I didnt realize just how lucky
we were, going that speed, that the tire didnt deflate so quickly as this
one did, or we would have been spread all over the road.

In closing, let me just say...be careful. And if you ever do experience
a rear flat and are lucky enough to have 30  seconds to respond....
....SLOW DOWN FAST AND STOP....that will be my reaction from now on.

Hate to hear this an hope you both heal up Ok.  I had a rear blowout on my original tire in 02 when the Valk was new.  My wife and I were doing around 70 when it happened, we were lucky and stayed off the brakes  an slowed down off the side of the freeway. Only damage was the tire. Never had a front tire flat an never wanted one. Bike can be fixed or replaced you two can't.

Sounds like good advice. When I hit the chicken coop roof a couple weeks ago I knew I was gonna hit it or barely miss it. Didn't even think about braking cause I fig Id panic and lock them up. I slowed and just went with it.

Dave & Faith,
So sorry to hear about this.  It's never good to hear of someone going down but it's even more troubling when it is someone you know.  I hope both of you heal quickly and get back to whats normal for you.
You both are in my Prayers.

I talked to David last Thursday for an hour and 50 minutes, and just got off of the phone with him again.
They will both ride again!!  and for those wondering, David doesn't have the dreaded OEM valve stems on his bike. I think when he gets to check out his bike further he may find the cause.  T.P.

Sorry to hear the bad news just got home from spring run and read this. Glad to be home safe. With around 2000 bikes on a ride something is bound to happen and it does every year. Your good spirit and strong faith will heal you soon. Hope we can make your event.

Prayers from Cumberland Furnace for healing. Let us know how it turns out on the bike settlement. As Don said we have family here that can help with parts.
