well guys maybe im being picky, buy my valk seems to run rich like at idle and just off idle, sounds like crap, it has stock pipes so maybe its just to dam quiet? i wish there was another valk in my town to listen to to compare it to.  AND THEN maybe this is related to the way it runs buy i went to start it and the darn choke cable desided to break inside the lever area, so now i guess the tank comes off, but how much of a pain in the tooshie is this going to be and what else should i check while im under the tank? and wouldnt ya know i just filled up the tank and put in some carb cleaner to hope the carbs work better

HELP with some hinters, thanks

My first guess is that the choke was fully engaged when it broke the cable and that is why it runs bad now.  You have to replace the cable any so start there.

You don't have to take the tank off to change a choke cable.  Disconnect the broken one from the left side grip and attach the new cable to the end of the old one.  Pull the old cable down to the carbs, separate the two cables and attach the new cable.  You do have to remove the chrome piece that covers the choke slides to detach the old and attach the new cables.

If you do remove the tank, now or later, make sure while putting it back on the bike that you don't allow the vent tube to be crushed/kinked, or you'll be here again asking why your full tank of fuel seems to run out after only a 1/4 of a tank.

Don't want to break your cable again? Do what I did....get rid of it with an afternoon of tinkering. Works great, stays where you put the lever, been trouble free for years and works both sides together. If you want the general measurements of the parts, see below.
