One of the main reasons given to get Obamacare passed.  That far too much use of expensive ER facilities was driving up the cost of medical care in the US.

Well, ER visits have gone UP under Obamacare!

This has been going on pre-obama care. I know we been looking at it the last 10 yrs or so. Which is why 'Community Paramedicine' is becoming more popular. Started with medicare looking at readmissions. Medicare would flag and possibly reduce reimbursements if a pt was admitted twice in a month for the same illness.

Emergent care facilities are starting to appear hear and there.  So folks don't have to go to the ER, they can go to one of these.  But guess who is opening these facilities?  The Hospitals.  They are opening these up all over.  Usually store front operations so the hospitals can see even more patients.  They run them as outpatient clinics and emergent care places.  But if you cal 911, you're still going to the ER.  And sometimes they send them to the ER from those facilities.

As population goes up, and liberal ideology sets further in, there will be more and more people to take care of.
