Last Saturday am was headed west on I-40  ,was in right hand lane approached a slower moving old pickup, moved left to pass he moved left in front of me so I went right again and he did to then the sob locked up his brakes,I had  to hit the shoulder  which had loose gravel which slid me into the grass down a 10 ft drop.I was throw 20 ft from the girl.  I came to in an ambulance headed to hospital.State trooper later told me I should have been a fatality.Ended up with brusies, few scrapes and real sore..the girl came out great both the clutch and brake master cylinders were broken ,both mirrors gone, windshield busted and rt bag lid torn off,,,that was the total damage done not a scratch on paint or chrome except engine guard right side..which I am looking for.

Hope your recuperation from the accident is swift and that your Valk heals up also.

Any chance that the situation was picked up on a surveillance camera or DOT camera?

Maybe someone on the road caught a description of the truck or a plate number.

Can you petition a newspaper or TV station for a PSA to help catch this low life who almost killed you?

Good luck and best to you, sir.

using a vehicle like that is an assault with a deadly weapon,, self protection is justified.

Sorry to hear 'bout your "accident". Dude was a P.O.S.
I'll look & see if the right crash guard survived our wreck. I know the left one was fubar.

I have run across a few that have done that kind of thing with the lanes. Once they do that the game is on. Hope you heal quickly and was glad things were not worse.

A high percentage of traffic follow patterns by traveling the same roads daily at the same time. I believe I would monitor that road a few times to see if he might come that way again. tickedoff

Glad you're okay.  Hard to believe that anyone would be so callous to deliberately do what that driver did.  Too bad there were no witnesses or you didn't have a GoPro or equivalent.  Be nice if you could find him but old pickups are pretty common here in Arkansas.

I agree with Cracker Jack. I think that person most likely travels that road regularly. I'd be watching for a few days!

Just make sure you get the right truck.....be a shame for an innocent guy or gal in a similar truck get your wrath.  Incedences like that happen fast.....even iffin you had a conceal carry you probably wouldn't have had time to react fast enough.  Glad you are ok though.

Slider , what do you need for parts. I have a rebuidable ( not real sure of condition) clutch and master cylinder on the shelf. If you need them I will even rebuild them and send them to you. I also have some bag parts in stock.

Im sorry you were hurt and the bike was hurt because of an idiot.  However, I hope you learn that no matter how right we are we (motorcyclists) will never win one on one with a 4 wheeled vehicle.  At the first sign of aggression you should have got around and away if possible or (if not, seemed the case) back way off.  The fact that you had to bail off the highway just because he locked up his brakes means you were too close.  Had you had safe distance behind the jerk and he locked brakes you could have stayed behind him, maybe got his tag and got him caught.

Sorry again, don't mean to knock someone when they are down, but every incident has its learning points.

Its my belief that most motorcyclists follow too closely even at highway speeds.  This can be a lesson to all of us.

PS.  Retaliation at this point will land you in more trouble than it will the idiot.

I hope your assessment is wrong.  I sincerely hope that something happened on the other side of his (or her) vehicle that was blocked from your view but which panicked the pickup driver.  It won't make what was done or what happened to you right, but it would remove the chance that someone would intentionally do that to a motorcycle rider.

Contrary to what some may purport, they are not all out to get us but an unsettling number of them are dangerously inattentive and too often disastrously ignorant.  Honestly, if they had the skills and intelligence to correctly and safely do what they need to do they wouldn't need training wheels, now would they?

Get better soon, Slider.

Slider,

Glad you're ok.

I-40 has been a pain in my butt most of my adult life.  I used to be in law enforcement  and we would often speculate on the number of whackos and the amount of contraband passing by every day. It just gets worse each year, especially the segment between Little Rock and Memphis.

Fortunately, you didn't have to deal with  any of the cheese slicing wire the Arkansas Highway Commission has recently become enamored with. Whoever manufactures that stuff has been buying a lot of good whiskey for our upstanding public servants at the highway department.

I highly recommend US Highway 70 except during agri planting and harvesting seasons.

Again, I'm glad you survived and weren't seriously injured.

This ^^.  It's like in hockey. The initial offense many times goes uncalled, but the retaliation almost always draws a penalty.
