check ebay for "gear pro" get the full hd 1080p, i think i gave like 80 bucks for mine and it comes with mounts, you will have to buy a micro sd card, but just as good as a go pro,,

I have a GoPro 3+ black.  Regret it.  Tiny screen, short battery life. Remote or iPhone control, not both.  Really there are better options out there.  It is small.  If you get one buy a bunch of batteries.

I am sure they are nice, but pricey.  Hard to decide on which version as well you would want.

Like said, there are other options at 1/3 the cost that will probably be just fine.  How many times you going to use it?  Do you really need a mini go pro such as for a cycle mount, etc. or just a smaller camcorder like I have if just for vacations where a cycle mount is not needed?  Camcorder's have come way down in price and are pretty small, but still not as small as a go pro I do not believe but just as good quality.

I have a built in GB harddrive jvc camcorder that you can burn to DVD's on your laptop, but is not small enough for mounting on a cycle.  We use to use it a lot when kids smaller, but not at all the past few years, it just sits.

Thought about a go pro for ATV or cycle mount, but don't take enough scenery long vacation trips to justify the cost, for me anyways.

What I use is a way earlier version of this. http://store.driftinnovation.com/cameras/drift-hd-ghost

Drift innovations HD Ghost. I do like mine. It is a slightly larger version of this HD Ghost.

Got a remote that straps to the tank bra on the tank. Does video or pictures though you have to set mine prior to riding. It looks like the new model can be done on the fly via the remote. And you want a remote.

I have the camera attached to the right side of the helmet. Have it "zeroed" in  so that whatever I look at is center frame.
This also allows you to get multiple photos or video with the subject in center frame as you swivel your head while on the go. Can't do that on a solid mount on the bike.

Quality of the video and photos is pretty good. A lot of this seems to be what you are viewing it on as the videos and photos are way better on the TV than the computer. Maybe not way better but noticeable for sure.

We went with this set up when my wife got her own bike and we "lost" our photographer as she would be taking photos while riding on the back when we were on the single bike.

We took a trip up to the UP of Mich. the first time she got her bike (used to have one long ago) and when we got back realized we didn't have a whole lotta photos.

Lot of good cameras out there. GoPro is really good too.

Batteries are the key with these things. Whatever camera you get be sure to get at least one more battery if not 2 or 3. They can burn up the energy pretty quick and they always seem to run out when the awesome shot comes up.

And be sure to have the computer system to support it. It will be frustrating if you don't.

I bought a GoPro knockoff made by Vivitar. It came with all kinds of mounts and works great. The only thing I wish it had was taking pics at a set interval. When viewing the videos a lot is kind of boring and it burns up a lot of memory. The whole package was only $59.

I have a Contour +. It works well and I just thought I'd throw that out there to give you another choice.

I only have experience with GoPros, and I like them. My first
one was the last one they made that wasn't "fisheye"... the
one I have now is a Hero 2, I think.

Both were easy to mount in a bunch of different places. I made
a few videos, but I like to set it on picture-every-five-seconds.
When I get home I root through them and always find a few
good ones. Its like they say about giving typewriters to 1,000
monkeys, eventually one of them will type out Hamlet...

They've seen a lot of use, both still work...
