Are complete rear master cylinder assys. still available?

Pappy!

1998 Standard.
Bled the rear brakes using a mityvac and apparently stuck the piston pretty hard in the master cylinder.
There was water laying between the rear boot and the piston which probably helped the sticking. Removed the cylinder, pulled the rear boot and the top nipple as well as the output line. Tried compressed air up to 120psi to free it and it will not budge. Have not tried pressing out the assembly.
Looked in Partzilla and says obsolete. Anywhere else you know of that carries them?

Put some ATF in it and let it soak. Also: I have a used one laying around if all else fails.

I kept messing with it. Drove it out. Came out with no damage. Cleaned the piston edges and re-installed. Sealed up just fine. Works as designed.
Need a boot for it as the other one is toast, hence the water entry.
Sandy, thanks for the offer...much appreciated!

I know this topic is old, but I was wondering why Honda wouldn't have a brake cylinder from another, newer model that would be identical. I feel the "parts listings" will become obsolete before the parts are actually obsolete. I believe Honda seems to reutilize components from one model to the next, standardization in manufacturing makes it cheaper than engineering a whole new bike down to every part. Saves on tooling in the factory, immensely.

Here's a poke.... That's why HARLEY-DAVIDSONS all look alike and are tinker toys, haven't changed their tooling in years!  :2funny:

Hi Natarie here

Don't mean to change the subject however I cannot get the rear caliper to bleed out. Have gone an extensive fluid but still have a soft brake pedal. The spring returns pedal to full height however when pumping the pedal it never reaches it's full potential of firmness to be depressed (very low more than half), for bleeding step to take place.

Hope someone can help

Are you saying you think there is air in the system?

I had a spongy pedal on a previous bike it turned out to be the master cylinder. It was not holding almost like it had an internal leak with the piston. I changed out the master cylinder and all was good.

There are kits available to rebuild the master cylinder.
