I am trying to decide between a Clarion XC1410 or an  Alpine KTP-445U for my Interstate. Which do you think is the better amp for my 4 Polk 501s? I don't really know what some of these specs are but I know some of you will.  Thanks in advance!  Smiley

My personal experience on the matter...it doesn't matter what amp you go with...the 501s aren't really big enough to drive that much sound...and definitely not that much bass.

I have done the speaker upgrade/amp to my IS and while I have louder sound...and better quality sound...it isn't necessarily better sound.  I really wanted more bass in my music...and the only way to get that is bigger speakers.  We just don't have the room for that without MAJOR modifications.  I usually ride with the volume on 12 or 14 (with speed control volume on high) and can hear it with all music/any speed.  I usually listen to the radio around home and mp3 on my GPS when on the road.

With that said...I have a Clarion XC1410, Polk DB401s in the trunk and Polk DB501 in the fairing.

That's great to know I will be able to hear at speed! I cut it up to 30 and can barely hear some of it so I'll be tickled pink!  Grin  When I  posted earlier the amp was reported lost and they would send me another and 10 minutes ago the mailman just delivered it!

You must have a rare stereo. I couldn't hear mine either and upgraded to polk and a rockford 300 watt amp and now it will blow your ear drums out. When my brother rides with me he says it drowns out his handlebar mounted speakers because he can hear mine so well. And he doesn't ride very close behind me.
