My dad passed last Friday at the age of 75. He enjoyed riding his bike with my brother and I until he got MS at age 45. After that he would ride along with us when he could. I want to carry him with me when I ride. I think that he would enjoy that.
Does anyone have any ideas on a container so I can take him with me. I don't want him in the bags. I want him in the wind with me.
Thanks, David in Fletcher NC.

this is my opinion only,, the soul is not with the ashes, you dont need the ashes with you for him to ride with you, he probably rides with you every time you go for a ride,, the wanting of the ashes to ride with you would be for your satisfaction only,,, i would head for the mountains and open the lid at 70mph and let them blow where they may,, ashes to ashes, dust to dust,,,

I carried the ash's of LASERPAT and WIZARD on my bike with me to deposit them at the Headwaters of the Mississippi and Palisade Head on Lake Superior. You do what is good for your heart!! There were a lot of tears on their final rides. T.P.

While not my cup o tea, when I was at the funeral home yesterday making arraignments for my dad, I saw where they now make 'Gem Stones' with a portion of the loved ones ashes...
Maybe something that can be worn when you ride, or something that can become part of your bike?

I agree with Jess. He will be riding with you with or without his earthly remains. Do as you see fit.
About your question. We have a stonecutter in our town who occasionally makes cremation urns. However, while these urns will last forever, they are made from stone, are heavy, and suitable only to rest in a place of honor in the home.
Sorry for your loss.

Thats real honorable and touches me. I thought about what I would like. A LONG TIME FROM NOW. Perhaps a tupperware type container, in a positive airflow area with a small hole in one side of the lid and a larger hole across from it. Kinda like an automatic deal.

Just a word of caution, A friend inherited his dad classic car, he had a container made to keep his ashes in the car, but the car was stolen and never recovered. What if you crash and the container breaks.
You could loose him twice.
Painting a memorial on your bike, or embroidery it your jacket, I think would be better.
Just my 2 cents.
Sorry for your loss, OzarkRider

Almost anytime I ride I say hello to my Dad and Uncle Dusty. Uncle D was a Honda guy through and through and I always have a feeling they are there with me when I ride.

How about a small metal container, kinda like the bells we all hang on our bikes. Except one that will hold a little bit of the ashes. I have also thought about what I want done with me when I die. I want to be cremated and my ashes mixed in with gun powder and loaded into some 12 gauge slug rounds or 44 mag rounds and my family and friends take me hunting with them and shoot me into a deer. I think that would be neat.

David, Listen to what your heart tells you to do; it'll be the right thing whatever it is as it's nobody's business but between you and your dad. Your dad will approve, no doubt. You have my empathy; the loss of a great dad is irreplaceable to a son. Be kind to yourself. My condolences.

take off the endcap of you handle bars and pour them in, replace endcap and Pop is w/ you every time, safe and sound.
Also, if you're just looking for a small container...there are small metal pill canisters w/ screw on caps, or a metal cigar tube, or even a small flask which you can glue the cap on so no one uses it by mistake.
I've seen the pill metal pill holders w/ key chains on them so you could attach it to the key for your bike.

I’m sorry that I have not looked at your responses earlier. Today is my first day back home. So far I like the idea of the pill container on the bike.
My brother was with my step mom when the Ashes were delivered to the house. I’m glad he was there. It made it easier for her.
We decided to take three small portions and the rest my step mom would keep. The three portions would go to me, my brother and my step sister. We also decided to have my uncle (Dad’s brother) make a wooden urn for him. I have a black walnut tree that I cut down about a year and a half ago that we could use for the wood.
Last week my brother and I decided to take our sister’s portion to her in person along with some personal items. I just did not want to FedEx him to her. She lives just north of St Louis in IL in a very rural area. My brother lives in FL and I live in NC.
I was hoping for closer when we visited with our sister and gave her the ashes. But it still does not feel real to me. My mom died a little over a year ago and she wanted to have a funeral and grave. It is nice to go visit it when I’m back in FL. That was closer for me. Dad did not want any services and did not say what he wanted to do with the ashes. So that leaves us a little lost. I know time will heal all and having part of him with me helps that healing.
Thanks, David in Fletcher NC
