I'm pretty sure we are there last time...Bubba Gump shrimp company any good?...seems like there was an Irish tavern near there
Bubba Gump is a corporate conglomerate owned by investers interested only in taking tourist's money....not serving quality seafood.
Unfortunately, most of the restaurants in the Destin area of that background and mindset.
Mcguire's Irish Pub is what you're thinking of....it's excellent...and locally owned as well (well...local as in Pensacola).
Sandestin resort is more "upscale".....most of the places out that way are too.....usually meaning you just pay more.
Pandora's on the Island has THE best prime rib you'll ever put in your mouth. They have prime rib specials every Wednesday and Sunday. ...it's best to make reservations.
Directly across the street from Pandora's is Joe & Eddies. Best breakfast anywhere.
Out around Sandestin for breakfast is Another Broken Egg. But again...it's more upscale.
Ask the people at the front desk where the locally owned places are....or stop at a convenience store and ask around in there where the best locally owned places are.
I hate to see people get ripped off and thinking there getting the best food anywhere simply because a restaurant happens to be in a torist area.. Truth is most of the restaurants out in Destin are there simply as an investment owned by some investment group in Atlanta.....and the sad part is most tourists don't know and can't tell the difference.
I forgot about AJ's. On the harbor, locally owned also. Good stuff.
So is Fudpucker's......it started out as a little beach shack selling beer way back in the day before we got "discovered".
Don't want to miss Hog's Breath either. Local place that started out back in the early '70's.
Capt Dave's.....I dunno. Used to be really good but the last few times we've tried it, it was crap food and crap service. Take your chances......great view directly on the Gulf though.
