Was this a warning to local residents?   Just curious.    Wink

Hey, where's BF when you need him? He's right there in Ft. Walton Beach. He ought to know of some of the eateries in Destin.

Hey, Stanley, the beaches are not nude beaches there.......just sayin'  angel

Not from that area so can't help out with a restaurant however just ask the locals and when you get two answers the same...go there.

Y'all have fun now, ya' hear?

Dewey Destin.  Get the blackened grouper.   cooldude

It's not a fake name either....his name is Dewey Destin, is a city council member, also owns seafood distribution market....what you eat that night swam in the Gulf that morning.

There's two Dewey's....one on the Harbor and one little joint built over a dock facing crab island.  Just ask your front desk where they are.

Harbor Docks.  Same thing.  What you eat that night swam in the Gulf that morning.   cooldude

If you go to one of the non-local owned places and order scallops, you're more than likely eating shark meat.  Scallops aren't square.

You may find some local mom/pop bars advertising specials outside their place for that night.  Word of mouth from locals helps.   Went there (Orange Beach AL actually close by) and many good seafood joints down there.

One local bar ran a special all you can eat boiled crawdad - YUM.   Needless to say I got my 10 bucks worth.    One local in particular made me look like a skinny weakling eating 3x's what I could and he was 1/2 my size.

One thing for sure,  no waffle houses up north here, seemed like one every block or two down there.

Bubba Gump is a corporate conglomerate owned by investers interested only in taking tourist's money....not serving quality seafood.

Unfortunately, most of the restaurants in the Destin area of that background and mindset.

Mcguire's Irish Pub is what you're thinking of....it's excellent...and locally owned as well (well...local as in Pensacola).

Sandestin resort is more "upscale".....most of the places out that way are too.....usually meaning you just pay more.

Pandora's on the Island has THE best prime rib you'll  ever put in your mouth.  They have prime rib specials every Wednesday and Sunday. ...it's best to make reservations.

Directly across the street from Pandora's is Joe & Eddies.  Best breakfast anywhere.

Out around Sandestin for breakfast is Another Broken Egg.  But again...it's more upscale.

Ask the people at the front desk where the locally owned places are....or stop at a convenience store and ask around in there where the best locally owned places are.

I hate to see people get ripped off and thinking there getting the best food anywhere simply because a restaurant happens to be in a torist area..  Truth is most of the restaurants  out in Destin are there simply as an investment owned by some investment group in Atlanta.....and the sad part is most tourists don't know and can't tell the difference.

I forgot about AJ's.  On the harbor, locally owned also.  Good stuff.

So is Fudpucker's......it started out as a little beach shack selling beer way back in the day before we got "discovered".

Don't want to miss Hog's Breath either.  Local place that started out back in the early '70's.

Capt Dave's.....I dunno.   Used to be really good but the last few times we've tried it, it was crap food and crap service.  Take your chances......great view directly on the Gulf though.

I've been to several Irish pubs, mostly blegghh... just bars, really...

I've been to a good one in West Virginia, awesome Irish Stew, big focus
on live Irish music, and drinks too, but that's not the only reason they
exist.

I'm sure you'd like good Irish Stew, Stanley...  cooldude

Mcguire's isn't exactly your typical just a bar.  It's an experience.
