I probably jumped the tread on why people trailer. I wanted to know what trailer y'all like to use and if there is a preference to enclosed or open. Where to get a good buy. We travel a good bit with a truck camper a would like to take the valk for sight seeing. My wife will ride some but not across country. I hoe someday to make inzane. I like the looks of the aluminum trailers but are pricey. Thanks Eddie

Just my opinion but, I'm not in the group that can afford to keep a trailer around just to haul my Valkyrie in an enclosed trailer.    I know an enclosed trailer can be used as a utility trailer but, I just can't see myself putting some of the stuff I put on my open deck tandem axle trailer in an enclosed trailer.    I just used it to haul about a 7 cubic yards of mulch for my wife's landscaping adventure, just hauled twenty sheets of 7/16th OSB on it for one of my shop projects yesterday.    I wouldn't give up my open deck tandem axle trailer and I don't have room to spot another trailer behind my shop so, for me, the answer is the open deck works best.

I know of folks who use their enclosed trailers to store their Valkyries, not a bad idea depending on the individual's circumstances.     It's all about what works best for you.    Want a clean/dry/protected place to haul your Valkyrie in, then enclosed is probably best for you.    When I trailer my Valkyrie, I normally stop and clean dust off the Valkyrie just before I get where I'm headed depending on the environment I'm trailering in.    I don't think there is a "right" answer for everyone.    BTW, opinions are like belly buttons, they all have a little bit of lint in them.   Wink

When I bought my Valkyrie, it came with a trailer.  It's a DropTail, single, and I love it.  Use it all the time, for all kinds of stuff, and it stores upright in the garage, takes up little room.

We live on our sailboat, so last year (june) we bought a 7X14 enclosed Interstate Haul Mark .  Double axle, ramp load w/7'ceiling and a Wheel-Doc chock.  We store everything we don't always want on yhe boat and we store the bike when not in use.  Really nice trailer!  It does what we need and only costs $50 per mo. to store it in a secure yard.  Insurance is $15 a month.  We got financing for 0 down 0% interest by pay in full in under 6 mo. so we got a real score, since it costs $75 monthly to rent a closet for storage per month in our marina.  Works for us.

We just bought a new 6 x 10 enclosed trailer. We shopped around , but we pulled it off the lot for $2650 taxes and all with a spare tire and set up for hauling a bike.

If you have the room to store it, I'd say get an enclosed trailer.  I have a 6X10 I've used once for the Valk and other times for dirt bikes, four-wheeler, moving, and hauling things when weather was threatening.

I like the comfort of knowing the trailer is locked to the truck and the trailer doors are locked closed.

In my mind... If they can't even see what's inside, a thief is less likely to do something to it.  The locks make it even less likely.

Maybe I'm wrong... but it puts my mind at ease.
