Congrats Daniel and Wife. We did the one at our church couple years back and about 10 Years AHEAD of schedule. Again-you guys are living proof that sticking to a plan and making sacrifices will pay off in the long run! RIDE SAFE.

Wow you did good to pay it off so fast!
We've lived in the same house for over 40 years and paid it off four or 5 times. Every time we pay it off we had another kid in college or a wedding or a major purchase and we'd start all over again. Paid it off for the last time, I hope, last year. Told Mrs. grandma we'd let the kids fight over it .

Congrats brother!!! We're ahead of schedule but not like you. We bought something for less than we could afford b/c on this one thing, my wife and I are on the exact same page. We both come from very modest backgrounds. Now that we are comfortable, we still have this thing in the back of our minds that it could go away at any time. So we underbought, just in case. We didn't have to struggle, we re-financed a couple of times, and we should be done in a couple of years for a total of 15 years. What kills me is the taxes (here he goes again ). They've doubled in the dozen years we've been here. The monthly tax nut is an S Class payment. I buy my town a freakin' Mercedes-Benz every year! :ticked off:

Ask my brother-da prez-about his tax burden where he lives in Il. AND cause the sorry sumbitches in charge have like zero idea what a budget is they ALWAYS want more money. RIODE SAFE.

We've been 'mortgage free' for almost fifteen years now. Of course we did not put ourselves in the position of buying more house than we needed.
Now we are looking to buy a 'vacation home' in Florida and I would like to 'pay cash' for it. Can't see a mortgage at my age.
