Posted this first in the Florida board but thought I'd post it here also.

Thinking about taking the Valk on a trip up to Chicago end of June/early July.
Was wondering if any of you have experience with either a throttle lock or throttle assist?
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks!

I have this on both bikes.  (you can spend more, or less)

Not having an automatic brake shut off is simply not a problem, you adjust the cam lock so it just holds the throttle against the return spring, you do not have to release the lever to release the lock, you just twist the throttle back to idle (against the lock).

I looks like part of the bike.  I have the Kury ISO grips with throttle boss and the cam lock together and they work well together.

Edit: You beat me to it Misfit.  I did not know the seller was one of us.  When dealing with him, he was an extremely nice gentleman, and mailed it to me the same day I mailed him my check.

Been using that paddle since shortly after I got her. NOT really recommended BUT I have gone on the slab with one finger on the paddle and the left hand NOT on the left grip at all. That paddle and 1 inch over stock height risers on my I/S have made a world of difference for these old arthritic bones. RIDE SAFE.

Vista Cruise throttle lock on the bikes for the last 15 years I think.  Works well, not that pricey either.

I went with the Australian, I think it was, electronic cruise control.

Have over 300,000 care free miles on it and not one failure.

Expensive, but well worth the $$$$ in my book.

I can take off down the highway, set the cruise and enjoy the ride.

Tap the brake lightly and the Cruise sets itself off.

I love my BrakeAway.

https://www.brakeawayproducts.com/

It looks factory and works smooth as butter.  Easy to install and set up.  No glitches, no problems, no issues with losing throttle settings....it just works flawlessly and looks like it's supposed to be there from the factory.

Jess, next time you have your throttle grip off take your throttle lock off and turn it over and reinstall. It will look even better upside down. When in this position you lift the lever to set the lock and push it down to disengage. Works well and looks great up side down. If I was smart enough to post a pic I would.  cooldude

Had Vista Cruise for years, upgraded to BrakeAway some years ago, no comparison.  Put the same on the wife's Magna.  Works great, never needs adjustment, looks good.  Yeah it's pricey, but like Oskar Schindler said, "Nice things cost money".

I thought about that before, but with the keeper (holding it in place) between the throttle cables, I did not see how it could be done.  (I have seen the older Vista Cruise turned upside down, which hides that crossbar.*)

That is not my bike in the pic I posted (I don't post any pics but those on the web I find), and with the IS throttle cables coming out much lower, it looks better than in that pic.  I don't use it all that often, except on trips and when I need to briefly use my right hand away from the throttle. I use the boss more than the lock to rest my hand.

I have been using the MADCO Throttle Lock for seven years, still looks like new.  MADCO also supplied a ring for the clutch side so both grips match up.  I also use a Kury throttle assist...

Thanks for the suggestions!
I agree the  Breakaway looks like it's part of the bike, although a bit pricey.
The Go-Cruise looks simple and inexpensive but sticks out like a sore thumb.

Have lots of things to compare in the weeks ahead.
Thanks again guys for all the input!

Once you see how well it's made and how well it functions, you won't think the BrakeAway is too expensive at all.  The BrakeAway functions like a fine Swiss watch.   cooldude

Breakaway does not work with heated grips, whereas Vista Cuise does.  You can flip the Vista Cruise upside down to hide it a bit, but with my black heated grips....it's not that noticeable.
