. . ..May 1st 2015. ....Not the way we wanted to start the riding season.. ....Faiths helmet.....no...I wasnt wearing one.. ...The gash in the tire from what ever we ran over...the skid mark is from where the wheel stopped spinning.. ...I watched as a Harley boy sat on my bike and rode her up onto the flat bed....talk about adding insult to injury.. .....I thought this would be the last bike I ever rode. ...It was a sad day in Mudville indeed....watching her disappear on the back of a flatbed truck.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ . . ..Well...The "bright side" if you can call it that, is Progressive took very good care of me....as far as the bike is concerned.. ...The adjuster came and looked at the bike and told me that Blue Book was 6235 for my bike. ...We also had a LOT of aftermarket products and Faith an entire evening totaling them up and they came to 6,400 dollars. I presented the list to the Adjuster and I could tell he was impressed. He went in car right there and jumped on his laptop and said he was trying to find the same products for less money. After about a half hour he came back out and said that he would give us 3,000 dollars in "Xtras" that my policy guaranteed. That bought the total up to 9,235 dollars. We took a night to think about it, and came to the conclusion that we couldnt know if the forks were bent, so we decided to take the money and run. He said "buy back" for the bike would be 1,800, but like I said , we werent sure about the forks so we passed. I did ask him about a few "custom parts" that are pretty much impossible to find these daze, and could I go to the auction and try to buy them back ? He asked which parts I was talking about, and I told him The Waynes World grille and side covers and the Two Brothers oil temperature dip stick. He surprised me by knowing what Waynes World was and told me to just go ahead and take those items off the bike and keep them. I told him that the side covers are a PIA to get off and I would have to take the saddle bags off to get them. He said as long as all the parts to the bags were there, that wouldnt be a problem. ...Faith has already said she wants to get back in the wind, and the adjuster told me that Progressive would also pay the sales tax on another bike, if I bought one soon. .....The Hunt is on... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Glad you two are good! What do you want in another Valk? IS...Tourer? I think I know the answer but thought I'd ask anyway. One of my guys has a black 2003 standard for sale but I'm thinking you are in the IS mode. Good luck on the hunt, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Watching her go up on the flatbed and drive away must have been REALLY hard. If you want to try an F6B I know one that should be in your neighborhood this weekend.

Deja Vu . . . I have a pic someplace of my black beauty leaving the driveway on the back of a roll-off wrecker. To add insult to injury the driver, a ham-fisted goon, was by himself and didn't know how to load a bike. At the time I was hoping it would be repaired rather than totaled. I had to supply the soft ties and straps, and the know-how, and sat on the bike as he pulled it up onto a greasy slimy smooth steel tilt bed covered in oil and grease from hauling wrecked cars. I removed numerous add-on pieces before she left and sold them ($600) here on the classified section. Progressive still cut me a check for nearly $11K. I never got my soft-ties or straps back so they sent me a separate check for $100 to cover replacement of those items the wrecking company (200 miles away) stole from me. Other than their choice of transport company and automatically doubling my annual premium, I'm satisfied with my transaction with Progressive. (I still have a Corbin double touring saddle that needs a good home). Good to hear it worked out and the two of you are not seriously damaged.

With ten grand in pocket you can almost pay cash for a new Valkyrie or F6B. May as well join the modern world of fuel injection and luxury.

Do NOT go ride an F6B! (unless you're ready to buy one!) Sorry to see her totaled. Glad y'all are well enough to be "on the hunt"!

Nothing I repeat nothing will replace the original Valkyrie especially the Interstate. I know a guy who may sell his low mileage IS and he lives in MN if you are interested.

No affiliation whatsoever, but this near identical pretty much though stock black I/S (even has the fairing bra like yours) is a very good deal I think for the price paid. ONLY about 40 miles south of me and going to have to drive right by the dealership later next week to get my near identical black I/S new rear tire put on. NO idea why so cheap, but something to think about. Not many I/S's around under 6 grand that I have found and 63K or so is not too high of mileage, not low, but not high mileage either. http://www.freeporthondakawasaki.com/new_vehicle_detail.asp?veh=704&pov=4243374Freeport is just south of Monroe WI and dealership is right off the main drag before you get to Freeport IL. If I was in the market, this would be at the top of my looking at least for the price. Then you could add the 2-3 grand of add-ons as you see fit since pretty much stock. I might take it for a spin if they let me since have to bring my new rear tire down there in the truck prior day or two to driving my cycle down to other cycle shop past this one which charges too much for tire changes and frown upon buying tires elsewhere at 1/2 their price to install as well.

Well at least it seems that Progressive took care of you and did not make a bad situation worse. I'm impressed with the payout.

Dave and Faith - you know that I love you as a brother and a sister! Man, sure glad you are still with us - bikes can be replaced or fixed, but a brother and sister can not be replaced. Looking at those pictures, your guardian angels were riding with you. Glad neither one of you got stuck under the bike. Almost looks like it highsided after laying down or something with the 2 separate angles of damage without transitional damage. A lot worse than I had thought. Glad you got out of it as well as you did!!!!!! Kick back and let the healing continue. ENJOY THE Q this weekend! Have a brew, a BAB and rest and relax! Get back in the wind soon my friends!
