I have had the Miata just one week and found out more about it.  This 2002 LS has Bilstein rally suspension, six speed manual, lots of good stuff.  My favorite tech at the local Mazda checked it out, it's in fine shape.  He changed the tranny and diff to synthetic oil and it really shifts well now.

Excellent shape for a 2002 and low mileage to boot.  I wish that i could say the same for me but I can still fold in and out of it OK.  I'm driving to Auburn this PM to meet with my chapter of the KWVA and visit the Auburn "war birds' museum.  it should be a good day and an excellent one if the temp would hit the sixties.

Meanwhile, ZOOM, ZOOM! , A second preference to riding but still "In the Wind"  cooldude

A better picture.

No, no!!!!!  A roadster like this is somewhat safer in an accident than a motorcycle.  I'll take the chance.

Installing a proper roll bar in a STREET Miata, is dangerous!...  WITHOUT A HELMET, severe injuries can be caused by the close proximity of the HARD roll bar to ones unprotected head especially in rear end collisions.

In Racing, helmets are mandatory, along with roll bars, but i won't be wearing a helmet or installing a roll bar in the Miata on the street.

There is a small plastic device that you might want for the Miata.  Called "Light in sight".  Fresnel lens that is about the size of a credit card that allows you to see the traffic light when the top is up.  easily installed or removed.  Also suggest the crazy Italian Red air horns. And finally there is a company that makes a simple air scoop that snaps onto the windshield when the top is down.  Brings in the fresh air nicely, the transmission tunnels can get pretty warm.

Great ride, loved mine.

Thanks.  Interesting about the Fresnel gizmo.  Used to see those on cars with a windshield hood back in the Forties.  For some reason, no problem with that.  On the last Miata (a '99) I removed the sun visors for a better view, no need on this one.  And yes, I had one of those scoops on the '99, almost forgot, it worked fine. As far as horns, if I replace them it will be with the big red Hellas.  Doubt it though, too hard to get at them.
