Kickstand Switch

What is supposed to keep the kickstand switch from rotating with the kickstand when the kickstand is lowered? I swear I had a second spring attached to the switch when I bought the bike. It's no longer there, and the stealer doesn't think there should be one, even though the microfiche I've seen does show a second one.

Instead of the switch remaining stationary when the kickstand is lowered, it rotates with the kickstand, rendering the switch useless, as it never breaks the circuit (completes the circuit?). By reaching down and rotating into the proper position while the kickstand is down, it operates as it should by killing the motor when the bike is put in gear. Sorry for the poor focus, but here is what mine looks like:

Holy crap! You're a lifesaver. Someone obviously had mine off (I'm the second owner) and never reinstalled it correctly. The hole in the bracket goes over the spring "pin." Well, that was easy.

Dont´know if it´s because i have a German, or the year, maybe....anyway, i have two springs, a smaller in a larger one....

And thanks to whomever it was who previously (months ago) posted the tip about inserting coins in the spring to release the tension. Made it a breeze to detach and reattach that stiff spring.

Oh the joys of owning a secondhand bike comes with the territory  Wizard and I were replacing the Rear Rotor on my Valk and when I went to take it apart well the Brake caliper holding pin on the rear caliper was not in the pin it was resting on TOP of it guess they took the rear wheel of and when they put the caliper back they did not put it back right  No wonder my rear rotor was cracked !!!!

I highsided my kickstand coming out a steep driveway and my spring came off springing down the road. lol I ordered a new one and went to install it and I'm missing something else besides just the spring. Where can I get the bolt or pin thingamajig that the spring attaches to at the switch? this picture shows a clear view of the pin. is it part of an assembly? Thanks Thunderbolt for the pict.

You are a life sayer Kingbee thank u very much, I just ordered the parts. I looked at my bike the pin broke off at the frame, the nut is still on the top side, hopefully I can ease the remaining piece out from the other side. The weather is too perfect here in La Porte to not be riding.

I also remember seeing an emergency "fix" for this somewhere in the Tech archives. If you search them, it's probably easy to find. If I remember correctly, some members even carry this spare "fix" with them in the unlikely event that pin snaps while on the road.

Correct. I went to the hardware store and found a screw that fits and screwed it down low, so it doesn't hit.
