New law in Indiana,think it starts in June, 500 dollar find for driving in the passing lane, not a fan of laws,but its about time for this one.lol

Yeah Hal but it won't be enforced that law is in most states but don't know the fine,but you never see enforced.

Most if not all states I've driven-all 50 at one time or another-have signs stating-keep right Except to pass. Willing to bet it was on the written exam for your first license. Kind of like the cell phone laws-they DO NOT get enforced very much. People settle into the left lane in A M and PM "rush" hours out of habit. Down here folks during the day cruise the left lane cuz they can!  I've had folks pull into my lane in an attempt to slow me down cause they believe I was exceeding the speed limit.  Talked with a LOT of L E Os over the years-you are supposed to yield the left lane to faster traffic-even if they are exceeding the posted speed limit. The Riders and Drivers on this board know-the "average" driver can neither lead follow nor get the HELL outa the way!    RIDE SAFE.

Yeah, I'm mixed on this. I think it's fine to keep people out of the left lane who are doing below or the speed limit. I will always yield the right of way if conditions permit. My issue is when I'm forced into the left lane with my cruise on say 75 mph. I get over to pass slower traffic myself and inevitably some a$$hole comes up and is riding my a$$ because my 75 mph isn't fast enough for them. Often, there are cars directly in front of me plus there are still slower cars in the right lane. The only way for me to yield at this point is slow down and get caught up in the right lane behind slower traffic. Just then, I'll see that a$$hole weave in and out at very unsafe distances just to pass me on the right and then he too is still doing the same speed just to get around me and be stuck behind the same line of cars I was.  If you couldn't tell, I've got some pent up feelings about this one.

Your speed relative to the speed limit doesn't matter.

It's very simple: If you're not actively passing someone on your right, move as far to the right as you can. Repeat. Repeat again.
