Taking a trip from Ohio to Albuquerque NM and leaving Friday June 5th. Figuring on arriving Sunday in Albuquerque. Taking the most direct route which is Interstate 70 through Indianapolis and St. Louis. Then 44 down toward Oklahoma City. From there Interstate 40 into Albuquerque.

What I am wondering is about all the flooding we have been hearing about mainly on I40?

Any thoughts on what to expect? Detours, delays? And of course I know it can change with more rain.

Was there last year in July.  Heat wasn't bad because it was dry.  For me humidity sucks.

Not really, no summer here yet at all. A high of 70 and rain the last few days. Bring a jacket Mark, you may need it, the forecast for June 6th is low 57 high 83 in ALBQ.

The only thing I would suggest is take 71S out of Joplin, too 540 in Arkansas to 40. Keeps you off the toll road between Joplin and Oklahoma City. I'm a cheapskate.

Did that same drive (hometown of Montpelier, OH) in reverse in June of 1980 in a '72 Ford Maverick with no A/C.  Undecided  The eastern part of NM, the panhandle of TX, and the SW part of OK are some of the most boring, desolate stretches of highway I've ever driven. I guess you didn't ask for anecdotal accounts of long-ago trips.  Roll Eyes  Sorry, I have nothing to offer in the way of info on the flooding.  laugh  Good luck on your trip!
