when I posted on the MX-5 Miata board. General discussion 1999-2005 NB. I post under the name soloone (solo1)
The general discussion was, up to now, just like the Tech board here. Very few comments on people, most all on solutions.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Then I asked how many were seniors and driving Miatas. WOW!
Probably half of them are over 60 years, and a third of them owned or own a motorcycle. More than one have more than one Miata. Most do their own work and brag about the Miata not needing much work. Lots of miles are mentioned. Loyalty is right up there.
50 responses, on the third page, and over 1.000 viewed, Again, Wow!
Do you see the resemblance here? Take a look at the board. Seems like I found an additional home.

So.....are they putting motorcycle tires on their Miatas? How many busted up starter gears from Miatas hydrolocking? Can you do the nickel trick with a Miata? I don't see any resemblances here. LOL

Solo, I've seen your occasional posts over the months about your experiences with your Miata and I am compelled to tell you of a unique occurrence that just happened to me. For the last seven years, my bride has owned and driven her form of motorcycle; a Honda S2000. She's had a great time with it and it has proven to be a very reliable auto with no issues. She expressed to me that she is getting too old and stiff to get in and out of it and that she wanted to sell it and get a small SUV such as a Honda CRV or something of that ilk. Anyway, I valuated the car through NADA and Kelly Blue Book and came to what I thought was a good average asking price and had established my rock bottom in my head. I then listed it on Craig's List and the phone went wild. I was getting calls from all over the U.S. with folks wanting to buy it. It was explained to me by one prospective buyer from San Francisco that there is a bit of a cult following on this car and that values are out the door on this one. He was offering me 5k more than I was asking but I told him that I had committed to a local buyer and agreements had been made and I am a man of my word so I stuck to my deal. I still think I did well on my deal considering she enjoyed the car for those seven years and we only lost 4k in those years. I was shocked at the response I received on this car.

The S2000 is worth a heckuva lot more than the Miatas mainly because of the fantastic horsepower. The Miata is more modest in horsepower and not valued near as much.
However, I'm still satisfied with my Miata but both cars are , IMHO, the best that Japan has to offer.

A couple of times I've followed a S2000 up a twisty mountian road. That car will stick the bends and it's really quick. VTec engine.

Valkjerk, if I was going to get 5K more than my asking price, I would have told the potential buyer locally, sorry, I changed my mind and going to keep it, if the guy wanting it for 5K was totally serious. Sometimes they say that, but then change their mind only offering you asking price once get there. I don't believe the s2000 nor miata are made anymore, thus increasing their resale value, much like our Valks. There, now this is VALK related!

Well, that just shows the difference between a man of his word and a person who worships the almighty $$. Not made anymore? I just looked at 2 brand new Miatas at the local dealer today(same dealer Solo 1 uses for service). All of the motor mags have been running articles on the new 2016 model due out soon.

I worked for Honda for 12 years. I leased 2 s2000's. Loved the little beasts. What a high-strung 4 cyl rocketship. I should have bought the lease after it was at term, but didn't. Still think that was a mistake. They are highly sought after now. Getting back to the Miata, so to not highjack here... Wayne, you look great in your little blue ride. Nice car.

Good'un Jess. Actually, some say Miata means "Reward". At any rate, I'll keep it. Chris (Psychotic Bovine) told me to take a look at S2000's. I couldn't afford the used prices that they are going for. On another note, I'm happy to see that we have people of integrity on this board.

Wayne when we were there 2 years ago you were feeling poorly the day we were supposed to share wind. When I git over there again can I get a ride in the new to you reversible? Cain't say conversible! Might be a mite easier fer me to get into with out having to argue with the steering wheel and pedals! RIDE SAFE.

Dennis, you're always welcome . Keep in mind I do like to make square corners and there is no Holy S*** bar. However, you can't fall out as long as i keep the rubber on the road.
