New To Me August 2013

North Houston

« on: June 02, 2015, 04:04:10 PM »

I was in a professional meeting last night and my trip to Inzane came up in our discussions.  Trying to describe the event, I mentioned the VRCC group. I was asked what kind of people are in the club. That is a tough question to answer.  The idea of a motorcycle club they know from the media has brainwashed them.  When I told them about the kindness and great bunch of people , they insisted that I should not trust just any one I meet. They have innate fear or misinformation of bikers.
Few of the cage riders know how great this group is and other bike groups that only have good will and kindness in their hearts.

The club has hundreds of great people and I pray for a safe happy ride to those headed to Spearfish.

Be kind to the cages and lets change their perception of who we are.

tell you what I did last year

Figured out how to post a blog and before leaving on my long trip gave the address to folks from work

When I got back the response was good and some court officers now ride
and are thinking about long trips

And it helped folks who were still stuck inside as the trip was late march early april

Hope to see you at Inzane, its not certain at the moment

That is why I consider myself a motorcycle enthusiast and not a biker. I have no use for the biker lifestyle or any sort of gangs.  cooldude

+1.  I'm a rider, not a biker.  I think Cornkid met a biker in Phoenix the other night.

I too have always thought of myself as a rider not a biker. But I've never been too worried about what non riders thought of me or my "kind". It seems to me that most people that don't ride are never going to understand us.

I probably fall into the biker category.  Probably mainly because I value fun over safety.  Also, looking like a dirty biker probably helps....  I'm just part of the stereotype.

Until Hollywood stops making every movie about a "motorcycle rider" being an outlaw, criminal, or just generally terrible person no amount of blogs will change the masses.  Thank that terrible show Son of Anarchy for this generations opinions.

I ride cause nothin else comes close to THAT feeling. A lot of the rush comes from the "feel" of the landscape and also the "smell" of where I am.  cooldude First thing in the A M me and my clothes are clean.  Wink After 300 600 miles I'm sweaty and smell like road and M/C.  coolsmiley BUT every one of us have seen the "look" from the driver(s) of the cages we pass.  2funny Too me anywho-the "look" from cagers tell me all I need to know.  Roll Eyes Iffin I had my druthers I'd druther be in da wind!  Cool RIDE SAFE.

I'm pretty sure that a movie or tv show with color coordinated Gold Wing riders about their weekly dramatic ride to the DQ won't do well in the ratings or box office. Peanut Buster parfait or a Blizzard? Oh the suspense!

A group of Valkyrie riders invades their turf at the DQ and orders Mint Chip Blizzards.  A gang war with long red plastic spoons breaks out in the parking lot.  Mayhem ensues.

I was thinking it but I wasn't going to say it

My first Goldwing Riders Event still haunts me.  It was like an episode of the Twilight Zone.  The crowd go silent when I asked if they had beer was classic.

It's just different groups.  Some people have fun simply enjoying the experience of riding a motorcycle.  I enjoy the experience of being a biker.  It's fun every once in a while I wake up leaned against a tree on on a riverbank, pull a day old hot beer out of my pocket and drink it while I watch the sun rise. Then on to the next adventure.........

I always start with explaining the difference between a "Club" and a "Gang".

Club... Barnes & Noble often hosts Book Clubs and I don't expect them to start any riots.

Gang... Bloods & Crips

VRCC stands for Valkyrie Riders Cruiser CLUB...  Good people in here.  I've seen it first hand.   cooldude

I'm guessing you've never been near Barnes and Noble on Black Friday or any time just before Christmas! Thought I was gonna get knifed in the children's books section once!!  crazy2

I liked Misfit's MOTORCYCLE ENTHUSIAST.  That is what I consider myself as well.  I think that a lot of us are not in the NORM in one way or another - which might be why we love riding two wheels - but not usually to the point of being a %er.  Most of us are different from the NORMAL society, but in a GOOD WAY.

The group here are second to none - that is for sure and for certain.  The Valk tended to pull a different crowd to it - and I know that I sure have found LIFELONG friends (that I am proud to call friends) that happen to ride a Valkyrie.  Come to think of it, most of the people I work with and neighbors are just that, just about everyone on my contact list on my phone have ridden a Valk at one time or another. I have met some people that ride a Valk that I love as brothers and sisters.

In a couple of days, I am throwing a leg over the saddle for 1500 miles of wind each way just to tell a lie with a few of them!  I have ridden the Black Hills - special for sure, but I am going to see some old friends and meet some new ones.  Some are far more than friends to me - more of family members.

As for the 1%ers, that is a different crowd.  I mean, people who ride probably loved one of two Peter Fonda movies - the 1%ers probably enjoyed him as Blue in Wild Angels while we probably enjoyed him as Wyatt in Easy Rider (freedom of two wheels).

I hate to say it - I didnt fit in with the Wing crowd either.  I went to one rally here in Lafayette and everyone was running around with each chapter having the same bloomer sleeping britches and matching shirts and vests on.  There were square dancing and best dressed chapter competitions and stuff - I checked out the vendors to see if they had anything I was interested in and walked out - laughing to myself.  I guess, I can relate to them more than a 1% bar I guy took me to one time, but different crowd.  To each his own.......

Sorry I digressed, but yes, even at work when you say you ride a bike, the word "biker" comes up and they ask if you are a member of the Angels or Banditos.  Ummmmm, no.

No man, I dug the other one........  Grin

I dont even own a car - wife does, I dont - but I am not a BIKER even though all I do ride is a bike.  Best people I have met came from this club - dont know why with the high dues we have to pay!  Cheesy Grin Cheesy
