My kind of 3D High Def

Abbotsford, BC

« on: June 03, 2015, 04:33:22 PM »

Hey everyone,

New to the VRCC.  Joined a few weeks ago and have made a number of posts, but thought I might introduce myself.

Here be me in 1997 with my brand new Tourer.  I saw the bike on the showroom floor  coolsmiley and decided I had to have one.  My wife (at the time) wanted nothing to do with riding on the back of the bike (turns out it was ME she didn't want to ride with) so I sold it a year later and bought a dual sport.  I don't regret the dual sport, but I do regret selling my original Valk, which at the time was one of only a few Tourers in this neck of the woods.  At the time there was NOTHING else like it... nothing.

Fast forward 18 years and a few bikes later, and I can't tell you how chuffed I am to be back riding a Valkyrie again!  I was fortunate to find this '98 Standard with low mileage.  I have to say though, that I do miss those beautiful tourer bags, and the best (IMO) stock windshield to ever come on a bike.  This one's pretty loud too... lol... but I have a line on a pristine stock exhaust system with only 2,000 km on it! WhooHoo!

Anyways... hello everyone... happy to be here.  If you're ever broken down near (like that's would ever happen tickedoff), or passing through Abbotsford, BC... feel free to give me a shout and I'll buy you a coffee on your way through.

Cheers!
Arne

I know the feeling.  I too bought a Jade Green and Cream Tourer in '97.  That event in & of it's self is a story for later.  I too no longer have the same wife I had at the time of the purchse, BUT I DO still have the tourer and I ride her a lot more!!  The Tourer is now up to 293K and still "runs with the best of them".   The Tourer is a KEEPER!!
