SE Wisconsin

« on: June 07, 2015, 09:48:04 PM »

I left SE Wisconsin early Saturday morning headed west toward SD. I was in Prairie Du Chen by 10 and making good time, hoping to get most of the days travel in before the rain found me. Sadly, It was not the rain that caught me but a phone call from my brother. Since I seldom answer the phone when riding, between the wife and brother, I had 30 something messages in 30 or so minutes. Not good when the brother I only seem to talk to when something bad is happening has called 10 + tens and the wife a bunch of times also. After a long conversation with both the better half and the brother, the Big Girl turned left and was then headed south. I stayed in Puducah, KY last night and am now in Gainesville, FL where I will be until I pick up the wife in Orlando later this week. My Father has been fighting stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer for the last 3 1/2 years, and all things considered, gave it a damn good fight. The doctors only gave him 6 months when it was first diagnosed. He is now in Hospice and while not in pain, recognizes no one anymore and will not eat or drink. While this trip was inevitable, it is not one that I would wish on anyone. And as hard as it is on my siblings and I, it is really tough on our mother who will tell you she knew she was going to marry our dad when she first saw him when she was 12. They almost made their 65th wedding anniversary...... just a few months away. And they waited until they were both finished with their bachelor's degrees to get hitched.

To all those I won't get to meet in Spearfish this year, enjoy the comradery of old friends and new and I hope to meet you all in the wind sooner rather than later. And please raise a glass of your preferred beverage for all those friends still unmet along life's highway.

Oh yeah, burn up some rubber in those hills!!!!!

I have no words of comfort but, wish your father a painless journey.
We'll all ride together at some point.   Family first.

Prayers for your family from the Trask family. I know what y'all are experiencing from having gone through it. Gods peace and grace on your dad and his loving family.
