Be my first time going and I will be camping while attending for a few days. For those that have been and possibly camped do you have any recommendations for a camp site that is close and maybe has some late night noise rules. I'm older and the sound of loud harleys late will keep me awake.  cooldude

lol, I know none that I stayed at had any noise rules, and I have stayed at 3. That might be hard to find unless you are in a hotel.  crazy2

Use the KOA, they are calm and quiet at night. Also a pool.

I've just got home from InZane and some of us camped at Chris' campground in spearfish, it's a nice family campground about 1 mile off the interstate and also about 15-20 miles from sturgis.

I think I like this idea. It would keep me a little distance from the total insanity. I will give them a call this weekend. Did they have showers?

If I was you, I would be making reservations asap.  I know one private campground outside of Deadwood that we stay at camping during the year, gets all booked up MONTHS ahead of time. I am sure you can find a place, just do it soon.

I just sat next to two guys from Spearfish last night at dinner at InZane.  They said that they are expecting 1.2 million visitors for Sturgis since it is the 75th anniversary.

Good luck!

Yes they had nice showers and proper bathrooms, none of that s@#tting in a hole business. They also had swimming pools etc.

There are a lot of campgrounds that offer 'quiet time'. Just gotta find what works for you. Bikes will be rolling in at all hours no matter where you stay. Town closes at 2a so you will hear bikes, no way around it. My camp has quiet time after 11p. Sometimes we get talking loud but don't bother anyone. Most bikers are courteous late at night and never rev. After a couple days you wont even notice it. Im at the point now where when Im home I cant sleep for a week cause I don't hear any bikes.  Undecided

www.sturgis.com has a list of camp grounds. Prob 100 or more spring up at rally time.

I don't make resv till late june and never have trouble booking. Depends on the cg I guess. You can put a tent anywhere.

If your not into partying stay away from Glencoe, the Chip, Broken Spoke, Shade Valley, Days End, and the one next to Glencoe, (Lamphier maybe).

See ya there!  cooldude

I have stayed at the Sturgis RV and campground. It's in town and a nice place. Walking distance to downtown, less than 1/4 mile.

If you want to get away from nightly noise, you have to get a little ways away from Sturgis.  My favorite camp ground is Mystic Hills, ten miles south of Deadwood on US-385 (25 miles from Sturgis).
It has a restaurant/bar right in the campground.

I've been there six times but I'm not going anywhere near it this year.  It's the 75th anniversary.  Last year they had 300,000 bikers, a little down from normal.  This year they are expecting 2,000,000 (yes, I got the decimal point in the right place).  Riding in the hills will suck...

I dunno' - but if loud Harleys keep you awake, I'm thinking you may not be going to the best place.
