Binkie from the holler

Vonore Tn

« on: June 14, 2015, 07:11:44 AM »

Well...I did it. I bought the farm...literally in Vonore Tn. My wife and I went down there last weekend from Michigan and bought a 10 acre mini farm on highway 360. We have a horse barn, a pole barn, fenced pastures with a run in shelter along with the house and 3 car garage. To top it off we even have an in ground saltwater pool. I have a son getting married in September so I won't be moving until after that. Good bye cold weather!

You'll still get some cold but you will be wearing a T shirt in winter.

That's a beautiful area.

There's a good bakery/cafe in the old downtown part of Tellico Plains that your wife may like.

Great choice Binkie. We've had a vacation place in the area for the last 10 years about halfway between Tellico and Madisonville and absolutely love East Tennessee. 360 is an awesome road, as are so many roads around you. Welcome to the neighborhood. You're gonna love it.

Pole barns.  Around here, people (mainly farmers) erect them as "machine sheds".  A place to park your tractor, combine, etc. out of the weather.

Some people finish them out and live in them.   Wink

You'd better pull down the link to the video right away, or you'll have more Valkyrie-riding best friends than you'll know what to do with!  I'd be willing to wash a few windows to get on that list.  Grin

So, I'm curious, does a northerner keep, or remove, the Confederate flag on the bedroom wall?

Nice score, Bink!  You beat me to it.  Start scopeing out a place for me, I don't need that much property, couple of acres will do just fine.  I will need a 3 car garage and a pole (or regular) barn.  I'll help ya move all your crap down.

Congrats my friend.  I wish you were on this trip.  (you don't complain near as much as the FG).

Thanks Gig...I may take you up on that. Britman...funny you should ask. The doneys just might come with the property....they don't know what to do with them so my wife said ok but we need to make sure her horse gets along with them. And yes...I've been down the skyway many times.

I have a friend who introduced a 2 year old donkey to his wife's horse.

The horse suffers the donkey. At that age the donkey behaves like a young teenager. He's a hellion.

Donkeys and dogs DO NOT mix.

Donkeys will also kill coyotes.

We've had burros for over 30 years now and they are great companions for horses and join up easily with few or many in the herd.  They have great personalities and if you have more than one you'll find that they play and tease each other like a couple of big dogs out in the pasture.
Now, if your horse is a mare and your burro is a jack...well, that's the recipe for some fine mules in your future!!!!  Love mules.  Easiest ride you'll ever take. cooldude

If you got that place for less than 300K, well that's about as great a deal as one can make short of "I'll take door number three, Monty!".
