Going to take a ride to arkansas in a week or so and wondered if anyone could recommend a dependable route that didnt take me down  the interstates. I am not in a hurry and am looking forward to the journey and not the destination. I am mainly trying to avoid, I35, I 40, and Hwy 75,,in a nutshell trying to avoid the over crowded sorry roads in Oklahoma and north Texas.

I can't be real specific for a start out of DFW but... I would suggest making your way to Talahina, OK, take Hwy 1 - The Talimena Scenic Drive due east over to Mena, AR. There is a place to eat in Wilhelmina State Park at the Visitors Center I believe about halfway to Mena which was decent. From Mena head toward Hot Springs, AR. Can't recall the best route to get to Hot Springs. You want to catch Hwy 7 due north which is a great cruising road all the way into Harrison.

There are other great roads but that should make for some nice cruising.

Hopefully some of the locals will chime in as it has been a while since I've been on those great roads.  cooldude
