Like a lot of the country, we have had rain, lots of rain.
One of my Rolling Thunder brothers grabbed this off Facebook today:
Hi folks. Here is the final information on the Freedom Run this Saturday. Last night, the board of directors went over the issue with the flooding issue in Marseilles. Marseilles has decided that they must think of the safety of those that live in town, especially the homes near the Wall. Yesterday, a volunteer evacuation was issued. People down by the river did start to evacuate yesterday afternoon. We at the Freedom Run support their decision. Once again, please watch our p...ostings and not those who are post wrong information. The Freedom Run is going to happen as normal just a different location for the ceremony. Our board last night sat for about 20 minutes and made a decision to what we are going to do. What a great group of people on our board. SOOOOOOOOOO, everyone is to go to Grundy County Fairgrounds. Those of you that go directly to Marseilles are asked to go to the fairgrounds instead. 6:00 AM - Line up starts at Grundy County Fairgrounds. 6:30 AM - Pancake Breakfast opens. 10:30 AM - Kickstands up for a ride that will end up back at the fairgrounds where the ceremony will be held. 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Ceremony and the reading of the new names (53) that were etched onto the Wall yesterday. Once we finish the ceremony, the Gold Star Families will be taken to the Wall to allow them time to get their etchings and to just have time at the Wall and to be with the other families. We ask that you try to avoid going to Marseilles on Saturday if you can avoid it to keep the traffic in town down. After the run is over and due to the Freedom Celebration being cancelled in town, our emcee and great friend Freak, has opened his establishment for an after the run party. This means, after the run we are all going to Freakster's Roadhouse in Pontiac which is only about 35 miles from Grundy County Fairgrounds. We will have our live auction at Freaks to help raise money for the Wall. We would like to thank the following 3 towns for offering their town to the FR after the press release yesterday. They offered the FR a place to have the ceremony. Pontiac, Lockport and Lyons, IL, on behalf of the Gold Star Families and the Freedom Run organization, we thank you for the offer. We decided to have the ceremony in Morris so that we can have the families as close to the Wall as possible. We also need to give a big THANK YOU to the great people at the Grundy County Fairgrounds for allowing us to have the ceremony there at the fairgrounds. We greatly appreciate everything you've done for us over the years. We want everyone to know that there is no need to bash anyone in the city of Marseilles. It's not their fault, it's mother nature. They have to protect those that live in the city. So I hope to see you on Saturday. Big Daddy President ILMFR
Please say a prayer for the people in Marseilles, Utica, Seneca, and Ottawa. Mother nature has not been kind to them lately.
