I'm home.

I could take a couple of extra days getting home so took the scenic route.. Friday, I took Hwy 212, going northwest out of Spearfish, it was mostly cattle range.  I saw a half dozen deer and about 60 antellope.  I quickly visited Custer's Little Bighorn battlefield.  I spent the night in Redlodge, and rode over the Beartooth Hwy the next day, Saturday. The scenery was truly remarkable. I went back into Yellowstone Park through the North Entrance.  I found the buffalo. I rode through a long valley and there may have been over a thousand of them.  I made me think that this must be like it was in the early 1800's, buffalo everywhere.  I may have spotted a wolf on the way toward the West entrance. Lots of people were parked along the road with cameras and binoculars out.  I kept looking to see what they were looking at.  I finally saw a large dog about 6 or 700 yards out, but was it really a wolf?  I kept playing leapfrog with two other Valkyries all day. I spent the night in Pocatello, Idaho. Sunday, I worked my way around Salt Lake City, to the east. I rode by Bear lake and ended my day in Springville, Utah, on Hwy 15.  Monday, I headed west, I worked my way down to hwy 50, America's Loneliest Road, and took it across Utah and Nevada.  This was my longest day at 540 miles.  I even had one of the valkyries, that I was playing leap frog with, pass me just going into Nevada.  I spent the night in Fallon, Nevada.  Tuesday, I rode to the famous mining town of Virgina City and was surprised to see that mining had started up again. I stopped for an hour and walked the board walk.  I picked up 395 in Carson and headed south with a stop at the world famous Schatts Bakery in Bishop.  Sent the night in Lone Pine with and easy ride home this morning. 4,217 miles and I am ready to go do it again.

Good that you're home safe and sound, John.  Just for kicks, next time play leapfrog with the buffaloes instead of Valks.

Man I wish I could have done that with you. But it was worth getting home to see my daughter graduate from UCR.
