Our current treasury secretary (an Obama guy) has vowed to remove Alexander Hamilton from the $10 bill and replace him with a woman. Who do YOU think it should be???

Considering current events, I think I have the perfect solution........ Leave Alexander Hamilton on the bill but change his name to Alexandria Hamilton. By doing so we would then have the first trans-tender currency  Grin

Wish I could take credit for this, but I heard it on the way to work this morning.

I think Monopoly money would do just fine. It matches the jokers that are in office.  (Sarcastic response, please note)

This was on the news about a month ago on Detroit TV, about a female on a bill, but they showed a mockup bill with "Rosa Parks" on it. Don't quote me on this, but I thought they were showing a $20 bill, I may be wrong.

As long as the chosen person meets the same criteria of the previous choices, no problem.    Not really sure what that criteria is but, pretty sure the person has to be dead and having made a significant contribution to the good of the country.     Oprah would not qualify IMHO.   Rosa Parks, maybe.    But, no matter who is chosen, some will not like it.    I'm thinking we should stay with former Presidents but, that's just my opinion.   Some day a woman will be elected and once she's dead, she can have the ten dollar bill.

Meh...doesn't matter who's on the money.  It matters who stands behind it.  That said, my vote is for Joan Jett.

If it has to be a woman, I'm leaning towards Sofia Vergara.  She's very inspiring.

If you drop the bill, would it usually end up face down?

Time for some elaboration on my earlier brief post...

I am probably more progressive than some on this board, but I just feel there is some "heritage" value to our currency.  No doubt there are worthy female candidates for the change if one is made, but if political correctness is the primary reason for the proposed change I just feel that is bunk.

Guess we'll all see what happens...

It's an interesting topic but it has been a long, long time since you could get a woman on a ten dollar bill.  These days I'm sure I couldn't get a woman on a whole lot more than that.    Wink

$1.00
The $1 bill has remained George Washington through the years.

$5
1914: Front: President Abraham Lincoln; Back: Columbus in sight of land and the landing of the Pilgrims.

Today: Front: Lincoln remains; Back: Changed to the Lincoln Memorial in 1929.

$10
1914: Front: President Andrew Jackson; Back: Scenes depicting agriculture and commerce.

Today: Front: Former Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton (changed in 1929); Back: U.S. Treasury building.

$20
1914: Front: President Grover Cleveland; Back: Scene representing transportation.

Today: Front: Jackson, changed in 1929; Back: The White House.

$50
1914: Front: President Ulysses S. Grant; Back: Representation of Panama.

Today: Front: Grant remains; Back: U.S. Capitol.

$100
1914: Front: Benjamin Franklin; Back: Scenes representing labor, plenty, America, peace and commerce.

Today: Front: Still Franklin; Back: Independence Hall.

$500-100,000
The reserve once printed bills with values as high as $10,000. They featured former Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall ($500), President William McKinley ($500 starting in 1929), Hamilton ($1,000), Cleveland ($1,000 starting in 1929), President James Madison ($5,000), former Treasury Secretary Salmon Chase ($10,000) and President Woodrow Wilson ($100,000).

I think the one to be deserving on the bill, is Hilary Clinton, because all the things she had to endure with Bill's situation and she limped through as the first lady.

I'm thinking the $3 bill for Kaitlyn Jenner.
Then we can just leave the $10 bill alone.

I think the US should follow Canada's lead on currency.  We have replaced our 1 and 2 dollar bills with Loonies and Toonies (coins), and eliminated pennies.  You don't need to worry about Toonies because you don't have 2 dollar bills in circulation.  You should put Hilary Clinton's face on the penny, put Caitlyn Jenner's face on the Loonie, then get rid of the penny.

alexander hamilton was not a president as he was born in Nevis in the Caribbean

Back then if you werent born here you could not be president

some say the reason for that clause was to keep him from becoming President
even tho it was Burr who killed him later

I have no problem with eliminating pennies from circulation and nickels also
They cost more to make than they are worth anyway

Leave the damn paper money alone I say

Franklin was ahead of his time, f...ked his way thru Paris on our dime
wrote what he want he was the Fox news of his day

Rounded up or down.  If $0.72, you pay $0.70; If $0.73, you pay $0.75.  If credit or debit, you pay $0.73.

We gave Bieber to you.  Once he's dead, you can put him on your $3 bill.  Or sooner, if you insist.

I like Hamilton too, he was a capitalist that set up our monetary and banking system. When Burr challenged him to the duel Hamilton thought it was stupid but he had to accept. He then pointed his pistol at the ground and fired. Burr then took careful aim and killed him.

I vote for "Moms" Mabley for the $10 bill.  That way we can make two groups happy with one change.
