The wife and I test rode one of these today. It was cool, but really different. I scheduled a longer test ride for next week. They sure are not shy about their prices! Felt better to climb back on the IS, but I guess a 41 year riding style will take some time to change! We are feeling the need to go with three wheels these days...this getting old stuff is definitely NO GOOD! LOL

I test rode a Polaris Slingshot a couple of weeks ago.
It was pretty fun. You still get wind in the hair (if you still have some)
I hit 80mph right off the bat and felt very comfortable. I didn't get the upright uncomfortable feeling I get from a 3 wheeler when making turns. It felt more car like.
The side by side seating felt comfortable as well. I think you could push some limits in it that I did not.
NICE RIDE!

I test rode a Spyder back when they came out, and maybe once since then. I'm sure they have their following but I don't think that would be for me, and maybe no trikes of any kind. The Spyder felt like an off road quad and nothing like a motorcycle to me. Granted it was some fun for a brief ride but I didn't like it on the highway or some truck rut roads, more work than what I thought it was worth. I'm thinking when I get to the point to think of getting off 2 wheels or getting 3 wheels, I will just make the jump to a small 4 wheel convertible......or who knows, a motorized one seat 4 wheeler.

Gunner, When it came time for me to look at 3 wheels, my only thought was to look for a Valk trike. There always seem to be a few available and the prices are very reasonable. Even though they have some age on them, properly maintained of course, mine will probably outlast me. I still miss my I/S, But all in have no regrets. Give one a try.

Can-Am. . . Not impressed with their customer service.
Contacted their facility in Canada on an accessory failure problem. Cold and disinterested. They offered NO help.
Maybe if I were to buy a Spyder, they might pay more attention?
Doubt it. Usually, you can tell a lot about a company by the way they treat their customers when it comes to a problem.
Just sayin'

Agree about Can Am customer service in Canada as well. Had an issue with a Can Am ATV less than 1 year old under warranty and they were no help. I had to argue with the selling can am dealer to get them to pay for parts and me paying labor to get part fixed which should be 100% covered but labor was under 100 bucks so didn't squabble much after that. Still, all Can Am 1-800 number said was have to go thru can am dealer and their service dept., after arguing and persuading, told the service dept. manager to step up to the plate and to call can am and honor the F'ing warranty, especially on something so little under 200 bucks total in labor/parts. After all that B.S. , I vowed to NEVER buy a NEW Can Am of any kind ever again, maybe used though if the price was right.

We checked out trikes, Spyders and settled on the Slingshot. Just did a 2600 mile trip to Arkansas, stil enjoyed the wind, smells, and twisties. Really like the side by side seating and ease of handling. Zots and Bird Minnesota

I believe the Can-Am Spyder to be a great product, well made and fun. It's great for non-motorcyclist or those leaving motorcycling for whatever reason but who still want to feel the breeze in their hair and the open road. It'd be perfect for my wife or my daughter; again it is not designed for any kind of serious riding. It is in fact an unstable platform engaging computers to keep the unwary and the novice upright and happy. I can't emphasize enough this machine is not made for handling, what I can do is show you how it behaves when push to the limit. https://player.vimeo.com/video/128757958

I've been down that route. I tried a sidecar on the Valk. Not for me, neither is a trike. Iff'n it doesn't lean it's not riding, IMHO. As for Can Am I looked at one. High priced and needed changes. Slingshot, I absolutely can not see. To me, it's a collection of parts and unproven reliability, not even close. Both are priced too high for what you get. Why fool around with three wheels (except for IS conversion trikes) when yo can get a roadworthy roadster with a trunk and a roof that doesn't leak. With the top down, be it a Porsche, Mustang, Corvette, or a Miata, it is close to riding but not quite the same. My 2002 Miata (my second Miata) gives up only acceleration (when compared to motorcycles) and gains a "stick to the road', AC, Cruise, super brakes, radio with cd, heat, fuel mileage, leather seats, all wrapped up in a willing motor with a redline of 7 grand and a six speed perfectly shifting manual tranny. The reliability is excellent. It took awhile to find this low 30,000 mile, well maintained 2002, but it was well worth it at $9300. Obviously, I'm completely biased but it works for me. I'm not gonna spend 25k on a compromise, even if I could afford it.

I pulled the trigger and bought the Spyder. With all the rebates and dealer discounts I got a little more than $6500.00 off MSRP.
The wife and I have put on a little over 1000 miles in a week. Lots of fun and very comfortable. One of our trips was 465 miles in a day. Really felt good after the ride and my wife didn't complain. It is great for sitting in traffic with the semi-automatic trans.
I guess we will see how it goes. Nothing really to add since the Limited has everything on it including heated passenger grips, electronic cruise, and GPS.

Dang, Solo! I have to agree with you. That seems to be a really sweet deal and a beautiful car! I remember seeing other posts where guys are buying those after giving up the two wheelers I was at a restaurant a couple of months back and there were about 15 of those came pulling in. I spoke to one couple who told me they were all together in a club and went on and on talking about how much fun they had. I guess it's like a bunch of bikes riding together, just a bit more comfortable. Thanks for posting!

FOLLOW UP: Kudos to Thunder Mountain Harley in Cheyenne, Wyoming!! Upon hearing my problem with the leaky, waterproof CanAm gloves that I purchased there, Cheryl Rafferty (General Manager of the Harley side of the store) immediately responded by issuing a credit to my card. Obviously, she could have dererred the problem back to the CanAm people under their same roof but took it upon herself to fix it. Thanks Cheryl
