Haha typed a LONG post about my ride today. On the end of it and bumped my mouse wrong way and it went back to the message board voiding my whole post haha. I got mad and went out on my patio to have a smoke. I look over and ha! There is a UPS package sitting there. Its my chrome transmission covers for the valk! Woohoo! So ill start over now lol
Goal of the day was to meet up with an Arizona VRCC member up north. I left way early and took the seanic route and to beat some of the hot weather. Bumper to bumper trafic almost all of the 335 miles today. I still find it nice if I let back a little and just cruise. Took too much time and missed the meet up tho.
Went from Phoenix to flagstaff, Az. Pretty nice ride and was much cooler up there.  Its always nice to smell pine trees.
Went from, flag to beautiful Sedona Az. I wanted to stop at slide rock state park and dip my sweaty feet in the water for a few min. As i got close i saw traffic getting thick and lots parking on the side of the road. Just down further i see a line of cars stopped. At the last car i see a sign that read "AT THIS SIGN EXPECT A 90 MIN WAIT FOR STATE PARK" ... welp forget tbat idea lol. I pass them up and head into sedona. Passed the only McDonalds in the world that doesnt have yellow arches. They are blue here. Cruised slow through town taking in the  beautiful scenes. Got through sedona and off to Jarome, Az. I happened to be behind a  very nice 60's mustang convertable. Its always nice to have a car like that in my view as i ride. We both get to Jarome and come to a stop sign. Jerome is on the side of a mountain and has very steep roads. He stalls it at the stop sign and starts to roll back. Akk i think and quickly look behind me and made eye contact with the driver a d he starts backing up. I hit my horn and let off the breaks. Quickly (too quickley) rolled back about 10 - 15 feet before he stopped his car. I really felt like giving him a word or two but i didnt. It was an elderly couple maybe in thier 70s. No neex for that. All is good.
I get out of town onto a very nice switchback road. Traffic is moving ok. Everyone seems to be into it witch is good. Then around the corner comes a harley tapping his helmet. Crap i think.. ok slow down and wait. Sure enough about 3 miles up traffic is at a stop. I come up to the problem.A GSXR  hit a turn too hard and broke traction on the back and put himself into a rock wall. His bike looked like it want over a cheese grader.. 3 bikes pulled over. One guy standing. Hope he is ok..prayers to him. Always a reality check for me. Well on I go. Nice roads. Tossing right and left and right. Loving it all. Get down to prescott a cool 2 hours late. Mate is no where to be found. Walked around for about an hours or so at brewfest and enjoyed it anyways. Lots of ladies! Wink headed out. Had some lunch, filled the bike with some 92 and headed home. Groups of traffic heading home were touching 100. Scootin'! I was in and out of those and was home in no time. Went with full gear and Sheded my jacket in Sedona until prescot. About 75 miles I guess. Got a nice biker sunburn on my arms. Had to jacket up on the way back tho.
The pic is Jarome, Az just before the accident.

Yes yes it is! I just found that way. Back in the 90's when I was out here before, I only looked at a map once. I-17 to 69 was the way I wouldnt get lost. Always stuck to it. I was looking at a motorcycle road website and I saw it. and now about 40 more rides I want to do now thanks to that site.

Oh yeah just to add I got only 2 people this ride asking about the bike.. "Is that a 4 cylinder ..." Never gets old. I love talking about anything with a motor. Met one guy in Cortes Junction,Az that said he has build a couple superchargers for the valk. But then again he couldnt pronounce Valkyrie let alone know how many cylinders it had. lol people

No doubt some fine roads around here.    The "back way" up to Prescott via Yarnell is not to be missed.  That road has also claimed way too many riders moving well beyond their ability.   I have seen it first hand.  Not nice.

So, the rides nearby are nice, but this time of year I ALWAYS dread the trip back down the hill into the metro area (the furnace).

No matter, in a couple of weeks, I'm headed north and won't be turning around.

Long summer tour coming up!

When I want to enter a long post on the forum I will type it in an email or a word doc and then copy and paste it into the forum.

Just in case I do something as you did.  cooldude
