In my ride report from Inzane XV, I had mentioned that everything ran great until the ride home, where in Dallas, I started getting a shimmy when I would slow down and there was a grinding/squeaking noise. Shimmy would get really bad hitting the brakes. Right after I left Spearfish, I also had problems with the rear brakes. Symptoms would come and go and the Lord got me home safe and sound even with the shimmy. In Dallas, I decided that there was not much I could do but keep pounding on.
Well, Traveller was the filthiest she had ever been, but I had a school at Church I was teaching all week, so I didnt get a chance to have a look at her until this weekend. So, up on the poor boy jack adapter she went.

The rear rotor was a little off kilter but when I got the rear wheel off - YEP, it was the rear bearing. The seal from the bearing came out with the dust seal. The bearings far from round - half were flat.

This was how much debris came out with the bearing.

Of course, when I beat the bearing out, the inner race and bearings came out leaving the outer race in the tire. Deja Vu! This was actually the same bearing we put in out in the parking lot in Minnesota. Went next door and borrowed my neighbors Dremel tool and cut it out.

As long as she was up and had the wheel off........

I went ahead and pulled the rear drive and drive shaft out and had a look and greased them up.

Thanks to Jeff K for the list of generic parts for a Valkyrie. Was able to find the single row at Autozone and had to go to a bearing house to get the double row.

Got everything back together and took her for about a 20 mile shakedown - nothing fell off - that was a good sign!!!

Everything felt good, so got back to house and washed her down - all that rain coming back from Spearfish - she was FILTHY!

Got her back inside and wiped down. Clean again! Whoooo-Hoooooo, Traveller is ready to go back on the road!!!!

Everything was good and glad I was able to get everything checked from behind the U-Joint. Only thing was - MAN, IT WAS HOT! Had her overnight on the jack, so I did it in the garage and with 100 deg heat index, IT WAS HOT!!!!!! But, now, I can cool off in the wind......
