http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/21/8820059/samsung-road-safety-truck-prototypeInteresting concept, I doubt it'll catch on but, I can see where this could keep some folks from meeting head on. I can also see how this could be a real distraction to driving. As a Valkyrie rider, I think it would be nice to see what's in front of that semi I'm following but, I'm also not one to get in a hurry trying to pass those trucks.

It can hear the lawyers cranking up now. "Dear trucking company your rear display caused my client to rear end your truck/ trailer. My client was watching to see if they could pass and didn't see your turn signal and break lights." As for the smart info of vehicles around you, same thing as above. If your eyes are looking at a vid screen your NOT looking at the road. Kinda like texting and driving.

Wonder how visible those screens are on a bright sunny day.

My question is, can that screen be hooked up to a DVD or satellite for viewing movies. I can see it now, the trucker pulls in to a local Walmart and charges to show the latest releases.

Not a good idea. To much information to process. Particularly as it relates to perspective. Does the screen give an accurate perspective or are things closer or farther away than they appear? Hills and curves come to mind as well.
Simple solution to me would be to have a forward radar system and a LED sign in the rear of the truck that would say "Road ahead appears clear. You may pass with caution" in yellow or amber or "On coming traffic - DO NOT PASS" in red. Totally controlled by a computer program.

Not anything I'd need. I'm not gonna follow a truck that close anyway.
Have you ever seen a tire separate from a tractor or trailer....at speed? Not real pretty if you're too close.

It's probably just me, but a transparent truck doesn't seem all that safe to me. I swear officer, I never saw the damn thing.
