Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

Broussard, Louisiana

« on: June 23, 2015, 10:45:12 AM »

Ok, this is going to be a Christian topic, so if you dont want to read, please hit the back key back to the main directory.  angel

Well, for those who didnt hit the back key, this is also motorcycle oriented.  I had to leave out of Spearfish a day early since I HAD to be back in Louisiana on Saturday - so I left out a day early in case the weather caught me.  It did, but I was able to pound on through it and got home on Friday.

On Monday, I started teaching 3-4 graders in Vacation Bible School for a week.

This is motorcycle oriented since the class was taught by a "motorcycle enthusiast" and the theme was "Journey Off the Map", so the first day I brought some maps from states I have been to, my GPS and even brought a picture of Traveller in South Dakota (you cant see it, but it is on the table beneath the map behind me.  Plus, I rode a bike to class each and every day - the kids got to see Traveller.

What a GREAT GROUP OF KIDS!

There was Bible Study, crafts, snacks, songs and dance and recreation periods.

Bonnie helped out in the kitchen while her old, biker husband taught the kids.

There was interactive video and a TON of songs and dancing.....and our minister was able to share the gospel with the children.

Now, the BIGGIE.  We were able to raise 1000 lbs of food to help the needy in the community.  I had challenged my kids if they raised the most, they could hit me in the face with a pie on Friday.  Well, my children raised almost 500 lbs themselves - so all I can say is, GLAD I LIKE PIE!  Grin cooldude Grin

And the most glorious thing was 6 of my kids accepted Christ!  What a glory! The angels sang and heaven rejoiced.  angel angel angel

I would have loved to have spent Thursday night up at Inzane - but what I was coming back for was far too important to miss.  It was a true blessing!  The kids had a BALL - and it was a blessing to me to with them for it.

That was how I spent last week and would not trade one minute of it for all the money in the world!  AWESOME WEEK!

Some of my best memories are from the 30+ years the wife and I taught 3rd, 4th and 5th graders on Sunday nights.

Funny how when we do things like you so kindly did, we learn
things from the kids about ourselves also.
Kids I feel are given to us as teaching aids from God.
They teach us love, how to remain calm when all around us is crazy and most
Of all what is inside us.
     Good job my brother.

Really good thing for you to do, God's work. My oldest grandson, sixteen, went with his church group from Topeka for a week, to build a deck and and porch for a disabled vet in Gatlinburg Tn..  Got  his dunking in the river  while they was there. Me and Gramma are quite proud of that boy.  Hoser

Teach kids from/by experience.
Adults have that responsibility to the next generation.
Kids need more "every day heros". cooldude
Thank you Warren for being that person to those children.

Now THATS a legacy worth having.
Those kids will remember the Biker who loved them enough to cut short his vacation and be in their lives instead.
Thats a smile from God right there.
Good on ya.
