So, I'm needing a trailer for various hauling and figure I better get one that fits the Valkyrie.  Does anyone know if I can fit a 2000 Standard in a 5x8 trailer?  I will be buying an open trailer with gate and inking I may have to angle the bike a bit to make it work but want to be sure.  TIA!

I had a 5x8 with a rear gate/ramp.  My Valk wouldn't fit.

You MIGHT be able to angle a Valk on it, but I really don't think there's enough room.

I'd suggest a 5x10, especially if you need a trailer with a gate/ramp.

Open trailer I'd suggest 5x10 as well since 5x8 would be pushing it.  Last I checked our Valk's are around 9 feet long but center of tire to center of tire am sure is under 8 feet, but why push it going to small?

I've been wanting a 7x16' enclosed trailer tight fit for my needs, now considering 7x18' or 8.5x16' for just 300-400 bucks more tops.  Why not since for me if going to spend 5K, what is another 400 bucks or so especially to have NOT a VERY tight fit with 2 feet to spare for other stuff inside?

I have a 63"x 10ft Aluma 6310 and the Valk fits well on it. Thinking of selling it and getting an Ultimate Trailer, kinda expensive though.

I built a trailer for similar use, it's 54" wide, 11 1/2 feet long, tandem axle.   Only used it a few times for the bike but have used it a bunch for other needs.    I don't have the room or finances to have a trailer just to haul my bike on.    I used an old tandem axle boat trailer as the base and then re-fabricated as much of the old boat trailer metal as possible to cut my expenses.   Then I put a metal tread plate down as the floor.    Made a damn fine multi-use trailer.    I don't have much use for single task items.    I don't use it much any more since I got my RV/Toy hauler though.

Just something for you to think about.   I can send you some pictures of it to give you ideas if you're interested.

I towed mine home from Kansas City to St. Louis on a 4x8 trailer. Yes, it was tight; getting it back off was the bigger challenge, as we have a cable winch to pull the bike up onto it. I wouldn't recommend it for routine use.

i have a 4x8 and it fits just fine,, no tail gate on the trailer, i use ramps,, if you use an 8 foot trailer with a tail gate then the bike will be to long to raise up the ramp...

From front of front tire to rear tip of rear fender, a Standard Valkyrie is 97 or 98" long.  Just a little too long to close the tailgate on my pickup truck box.

Great info, everyone.   I'll reset my search on a quality 5x10 utility trailer with gate/ramp.   I don't envision the Valk spending much if any time in the trailer but want to be covered if the need arises.

Yeah, it fits OK without a tail gate, but the balance is a bit far back, making for marginal tongue weight. My engine was barely in front of the axle.

This is a golf cart trailer, you notice I had to move the chock  out onto the tongue to close the gate/ramp.  It works great, and doubles as a mower trailer, or anything one would want to haul.  The bed is 96 inches long and 69 wide, it has 13 inch auto tires.  I gave 900 bucks for it new. built by a independent mom and pop welding shop.  Hoser
If I had a welder and little skill, I could have built it myself.  Grin  Hoser
