Just curious, who has the best deal for roadside service? AAA, AMA, AARP, etc? Honda has a deal going that I like but has limited coverage of vehicles.

I hate to admit it, but probably the Goldwing Riders Association.  It's cheap and has a fairly large network of motorcycle towers.  Everyone I know who has used it has no complaints.

I'm waiting to see how they handle my truck tow. I had no signal to call and neither did the sheriff. Got a company to tow it home less then 30  miles and they say they will up to 100 miles for my service. Got billed $175. Their website says reimburse up to $100 so I may have to eat $75. I shouldn't have to. I've payed dues for like 7 years and have never needed them for anything at all till now. Where do they think they'll get a tow 100 miles for under $100.

I've had to use AMA Roadside Assistance only once, but it worked well.  It was a logical choice for me as I have been a Life Member for a long time and am now a 50 Year Member of the AMA...

Not sure if the question pertains to bikes, or roadside service for any vehicle but here's my story:

Unfortunately I've had 3 experiences with roadside assistance in the last 10 months. (on cars that crapped out on me)

I have GEICO insurance (cars and bikes) and along with the insurance comes roadside assistance.

This worked out real well for me, no charge either time. (I'm pretty sure I'm paying through my premiums though with the coverage I have)

I know some insurance companies set a limit of say 100 bucks for towing coverage.  Most tow companies around here are at least 80-100 bucks for say a 30 mile tow.  Your area may be much higher than 100 per tow though?

Funny you should ask.  Just got back from the mailbox with a solicitation from AAA of Colorado for a policy for $65 for a year (auto) that also covers your bicycle.

Wonder if you could convince someone that since your Valk has only two wheels that it is technically a bi-cycle? ???

Actually, we subscribe to the Allstate Motor Club as it gives us decent protection for about $55 per year (auto and truck).  Anyone?

I'd vote for AAA.  Wife is covered, I'm covered, in all our vehicles.
Looked into the AMA, and the tow range was like 35 miles or something; lame.

AAA does require you to have RV coverage to cover motorcycles.  Once you have the RV rider, you are covered for 100 miles.  You then have the option to make it 200 miles for a bit more.

Used them twice, make that 3 times in the last 6 years: once about 6 miles from home when an ignition switch just self destructed whilst going to dinner (ever try pushing a Goldwing Hack even 100 feet?), once more with an un-fixable flat on a ST1100 on I10 in west Texas (which was a 125 mile tow back to El Paso - the extra 25 miles cost me another $100 Shocked), and last summer when our Goldwing Hack motor on I90 outside Badlands National Park.  Boy was it hot on the side of the freeway...

As long as you have cell phone service, sure is nice to have help to get your sorry arse home... or at least to a air conditioned shop... Roll Eyes

I have AAA the full load deal.    All vehicles covered, for me, the wife and daughter.

We have used it 3 times and they have been Johnnie on the spot all 3 times.

A flat tire, a lockout and a jump start.    All 3 they were there within a 1/2 hour from the 1st call, except for the last one.    The dispatcher sent them to the wrong area of town.     Misunderstanding between me and the initial phone answerer.

I have A M A on the Phatt Ghurl cause I couldn't get my insurance carrier to get towing on my M/C policy-shelter ins. The A M A notified me AFTER I renewed that in 2015 instead of 100 mile no charge tow it was now 35 mile no charge tow.  Undecided I AINT happy.  tickedoff Up to this point in time have NOT needed the towing but-well we are all familiar with-BUT!  2funny AND as an aside-they DID NOT lower my membership fee at A M A. When I get back to the Sho Me I'll be doin some M/C ins research!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

I have AMA coverage. Not very expensive and it covers EVERY vehicle/trailer that I have. Camper. motorcycle trailer, everything. AAA always wanted a separate fee for the bike and the camper. Had to get my truck towed for a starter replacement. 10 minutes after I called the roll-back showed up. Very satisfied.

we recently bought our 3rd new honda car from same dealer  and got the towing aND ROADSIDE   as an option,,they said and I quote " we will pay for the towing of any Honda  you own",so I said you will even tow my honda motorcycle..and the answer was  if its a honda owned by your family we will pay for towing.well we turned in a claim after my wreck, and we were told your covered..2 months later called them again..sir we did not recieve  a copy of the towing bill  fax it to us and you will be paid within 5  days you are covered....10 days later called them again  and was told sorry claim denied ..because you did not submit  claim  within 10 days of accident....claim was filed 5 days after accident..proved it and denied again...don't use honda

Assuming you are referring to the bike I'm with Pago and RJ... AAA RV - at least as it is called here in NC - is needed to cover the bikes along with the cars.

Probably not the cheapest, but they've been there every time I've needed them. angel

As long as you can get cell phone service to call them...

I've had AAA for 20 plus years, originally a gift from my folks. Only used them a handful of times, all auto issues. Always took care of things promptly. My son has used them several times.

This part should be confirmed but... I believe they cover you in any vehicle you're in or on. I know my son has used it while in a buddies vehicle a few times.

Sounds like what he has is AAA RV.

The wife used it yesterday.

She started to leave for work and had a flat tire.

Sent her off in my truck, I staid home and waited for the
AAA RV Service Truck they called.

The service truck was here within 20 minutes of my call.      He dropped the spare tire, used his air tank to blow it up to 45#, changed the tire and said "Thank You" as he was leaving.

I hate to admit it, but probably the Goldwing Riders Association.  It's cheap and has a fairly large network of motorcycle towers.  Everyone I know who has used it has no complaints.

Dave you shouldn't have to pay one red cent! if they will cover up to 100 miles and yours was less than 30.....something's wrong with that picture! Let me know how it turns out. If they do you right GWRR sounds  good.

Since it didn't go thru GWRRA call center I got reffered to thge cpmpany they are underwriting I guess. Well I received a check in the mail today for a whopping $50 to cover a $175 tow. I have had Rescue Plus thru GWRRA for 8 years and never used them for so much as a lock out. Needless to say I am DONE with them. Nothing more to say on this subject as it just raises my blood pressure.........
