Lost a rider this morning, a Carl Sorensen of Centennial, CO, during training for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
Not a rookie, lost it near the summit. Cry

Additionally, six people got hit by lightning today up there.  No fatalities reported. angel

Summertime in the Rockies, be aware whether riding or just being there (particularly above treeline) about the danger of lightning strikes.  Yes, people do get hit by lightning on motorcycles.

Ride with zen on your side. Smiley

Mother Nature can be a bitch. Lightning can be nasty stuff.
I have a couple friends that have been struck. One twice. One friend had his electrical system screwed up and ever since has had a hard time walking, his legs just refuse to do do what he wants.
A friend and I once were knocked down when lightning struck a tree we were walking past while golfing.
A neighbor has had his home hit twice over the years. Both times hit in the same place and both times set the house on fire.
I've been struck twice [ well not me, the plane] while flying. Both times it blew holes in the wing and fuse and once took out the electrics. I never gave these storms much clearance and have flown thru them, but, I now give them a wider berth.
