What's in your toolbag?

My VTX came with an adorable bicycle wrench and a terrible screwdriver. My Valk came with a 5mm allen key and some cable for hanging a helmet. When I asked my dealer's mechanic if he recommended any specific tools, he said, "I wouldn't worry about it. Your not going to have any problems with this bike if you keep up with the maintenance."

I like his optimism... but I like being prepared too.

What are you carrying? Anything you're thinking about carrying, but aren't yet? I threw a tire pressure gauge in there, but that's really it so far.

Ride it, shoot it, eat it, or don't need it.

I like the idea that I can do any minor fix roadside so I keep a full set of metric wrenches, 2 each of Philips and flathead screwdrivers  (long and short ), needle nose and normal pliers, a, adjustable crescent wrench a simple set of Allen wenches, torx wrenches, tire gauge and a fuse kit. I also keep hardware for anything I replace (nuts and bolts for batteries and the like). I still need to pick up small container of dot4 break fluid and a quart of oil.

I also keep a small first aid kit, small bottle of sunscreen, couple of bottles of water if I'm going anywhere out of city limits and some crackers and hard candy.

I always find its best to hope for the best and expect the orst.
There I lay, broken and bloody, my life slipping away when a beautiful winged woman in glorious golden armor appeared.

"Come with me" she said.

"To where?" I asked.

"To Valhalla"

I carry well used to carry the tool kit that came in the bike.

In the 242K miles I had MGM and rode it, never had anything out of that pouch.

I plugged a couple or 3 tires, but used nothing out of the tool pouch,  I couldn't even tell ya what is in that pouch.

And a few metric tools, zip ties, wire, fuses, tire repair and pump.

And no bike tool kit is complete without one of these.

That all sounds like great stuff to have, but where do you put it all? I have a small roll of tools that has the useful stuff out of a pouch and a few useful add-ons, a multi-tool, big adjustable wrench, ball-pein hammer, electrical tape, and lots of zip-ties. If all that fails I have my CAA card. lol. That nearly fills one of my beetle bags, and rain gear nearly fills the other. I'd like to add a first aid kit and a few other small things but then I would have no space for anything.

Jess: The headlamp is a great idea, I have a flashlight but I will be adding a headlamp.

I installed the sissy bar and the luggage bar with a huge bag. Look for my nonhonda/corbin bag post. I can get all the tools in the back pouch, first aid kit in a side pouch, food in the other side pouch.my jacket takes 1/2 the main compartment and leaves tons of room for more. I still need to add saddle bags but I'm wating for someone to come up with a way to mount a normal set instead of the expensive ass honda bags.

Over the years I had spent enough time drooling down my shirt with a mini-mag in my mouth when needing both hands to work (which is most of the time), that the first time I saw these for sale, I got a few of them.  And working on a bike on the side of the road, it doesn't take night time to need a light to see what you are doing.  The ones with a pivot on the light are esp useful; I read a whole magazine with one last week when the power went out.
