Just wondering what software members use to compress the video from their GoPro and other cameras. I have a Sony HDR-AS20 camera which uses MP4 format. Even when I use the STD setting (1280x720), the files are huge. What compression software are you using?

thanks

Dont know what operating system you use but in Windows there is a compression setting that is native. Rt click on the video file go to properties>advanced>compress or encrypt files. With storage so cheap why not get a 3 gig to 3 tera byte external hard drive and put in on there?

Thanks, I will try that. Storage is not the problem, the problem is emailing the videos.

Videos are always very large and you will have problems emailing them. You would probably be better off putting them on YouTube and making them private and just sharing the link with friends etc.

As to software for Windows try Format Factory on Mac try Handbrake both free.

What Colin said... youtube will re-fromulate your uploaded video to
something that's not too hard to download, and you can just email
the link around.

youtube sends video to unix users in HTML-5 format... I just googled
for "convert mp4 to html5" and got some hits, don't have any
experience with any of the software, though...

handbrake does a really great job with compression and keeps the picture clear.
