So I am on my way to work in my wife's Subie Crosstrek and got passed by a fire safety company truck. He was 10 mph or so over the limit, no big deal but he has a cell phone right in front of his face and a little weaving etc. So we stop at a light and I call the number on the truck and it went to voice mail. As I excepted the fatc that nothing would happen, he hit a signal and I figured he was going to a job or whatever and i could get a car. He pulls into the company offices and I get his attention and ask him his name and he tells me. He asks if he can help me and I said that my company was looking to switch fire safety companies and he takes me inside and introduces me to the boss and the guy tells him that my comapny might be interested in doing business. Got a nice handshake and met a couple of other I guess bosses. I then tell them that I am not being completely honest and the only reason I was there was to report that their driver had been texting and weaving for a few miles. I explained that I ride motorcycles and that just grinds my gears, but stayed cool and calm and from the looks on the bosses face, I think a coaching opprtunity was created.

I agree.   I saw a driver from another trucking company almost run a red light (18 wheeler).  I pulled up even with his cab and saw a tablet setting in the dash over the gauges so he could watch a movie.  Called the number on the door, identified myself by name and title (driver trainer) and informed the man that answered of the situation.    I got a call later that day from my boss that that company owner had called our corporate office and talked with our VP of safety and thanked him for alerting them to the situation.

I've also have done this numerous times (and continue to do it).

What baffles me is these people driving company trucks that have big, bold phone numbers of the company on the doors trying to generate business!!
In this day where everybody has a cell phone it's so easy to call the number right there and then and complain about the type of driving their driver is doing!

Some companies seem to be appreciative for the report, such as youngPUP stated, and others act like your just a complaining b!tch an are bugging them.

On the other hand I've also called and complimented drivers that went above and beyond, or at least the way I saw it.

I'm imagining driver A using his cell phone to report driver B for using his cell phone...

Now I almost had a heart attack, looking in my rear view mirror,
I saw myself the next car back, looking in the rear view mirror,
about to have a heart attack,

I saw someone texting while driving, it got me so upset I put my newspaper down, almost spilled my coffee, had to put my sandwich down, stopped shaving, gave up on clipping my nails, picked my phone up and sent his company a sternly worded e-mail.
