you've ever fashioned headlights for a Valkyrie Interstate out of aluminum foil pot pie pans. As many of you know, I totaled my Interstate after Inzane but rode it 1100 miles home after hitting a deer at 65mph. I'm still waiting on an agreed settlement but I at least want to ride the bike to work in the daytime. I'm going through withdrawals. Since my fairing is pretty much wiped out, I had to fashion some headlights. I put electrical pipe clamps around the forktubes with rubber pieces so as not the scratch the tubes. Then I attached threaded rod to the pipe clamps and duct taped the lamp sockets to the threaded rod. Here are the headlights "Off" and headlights "On" pics. This should satisfy the Illinois law stating I must have lights on in the daytime. And now with the headlights on pic: A Valk rider has to do whatever it takes!

A REAL Redneck would have adopted "used" beer cans instead of pie plates... doing the modifications with his trusty Buck Knife.

I'da used the Jiffy Pop pans after the tasty treat. Right now, however, they're doing duty as my fire alarm.

where there is a will, there is a way.
I take it the forest rat (deer) did not damage the front forks, etc. as well affecting steering/handling?

Yeah, Hooter, you may have missed the part where I duct taped the sockets to the threaded rod. A Redneck has to use duct tape in there somewhere, right? I'da used the Jiffy Pop pans after the tasty treat. Right now, however, they're doing duty as my fire alarm.
Haha, Jiffy Pop pans...that's a good one, Czuch! But I don't want to BLIND the opposing cars! I like the fire alarm idea. At least if your house is on fire, you wake up to the smell of fresh popcorn! Damn, you went all out ! You even got the pie tins with the clear plastic covers I think you are good for a few thousand more miles. Hopefully, Meathead, it's only for a week or two. where there is a will, there is a way.

cookiedough, like most, I found it hard to believe the bike was even rideable. But there was no leakage of any kind, either from the forks or motor. The forks appeared to be ok. I started out slowly but by the time I hit Des Moines and I80, I was doing 70-73mph all the way home. When I let go of the handlebars, it pulled right but not too badly. Someone probably attributed that to the fairing being knocked off kilter and the wind able to rush right through and affect aerodynamics.

Do you or have you ever owned a KLR650? This is great KLR bottom dollar work! Does it by any chance have a milk crate on the rear? I applaud your enthusiasm to ride while the riding is good. My good friend LoriBeth and myself keep extra bikes around for just this reason.

You use the beer cans for the fog lights in the pods on the I/S.

It is doing double duty, after consumption, of covering my yellar oil filter. Hay Jimmyt
