Has anyone ridden the Blue Ridge Parkway from its beginning at 441 (I think) in NC to Front Royal, Va., where it ends as Skyline Drive? How many miles and it has to be a great ride. I've ridden part of it near Ashville, enjoyed it, but don't know if my attention span would allow me to ride the entire length.

Tried to ride it several times with my brother, but his Harley broke down both times , 2 different years. Would much rather ride it than the Cherohala Skyway....I think scenery is more beautiful.

By the way, we're  gonna try again first week of Sept....(yippee)...brother is gonna try 1 more time. He said if his Harley broke down again he was going to trade it off on a Honda. LOL....That Parkway is his " Bermuda Triangle"!!!   Evil

I was born and raised in Hickory.  Rode the Parkway before it was the "cool" thing to do.  Of course, that would have been in my Limey days.   Sure do miss that old Bonneville.

...I miss the Blue Ridge Parkway, too.  Haven't been on it in many years.

I was the opposite so I guess it depends on what you want from a ride.  I started on the south end, made it maybe 100 miles, and was completely sick of it.  Low speed limit, lots of other vehicles driving under the already low speed limit to take pictures, (if you ride legal) it's "no passing" pretty much everywhere.

I couldn't deal with it.

I did the complete trip south in September.  Kids in school, vacations mostly over.  In the almost 500 miles, I came up on maybe 25 cars.  I had it to myself at most times. Smiley

I could see it being boring if you have to follow cagers the whole way.

It's an OK ride, done the whole thing twice.

Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

On a road less traveled.

Red, we have done the BRP & Skyline Drive multiple times both ways, and its around 540 + - Miles or so, you will not get bored and its worth taking your time, (not just for the scenery) especially on the Skyline side of the ride considering its a 105 miles long and the last time we rode it we had 15 Park Rangers running radar, compared to 0 on the BRP in the same day.  uglystupid2
Front Royal is just a stones throw away from us, PM me when your heading out and lets see if we cna get together.

My buddy and I rode it southbound last May.
We had 3 days to do it and could have spent another 3 on side trips.
The BRP Foundation offers a certificate for riding the whole length. It's called the End-to-End award.

Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 miles... We've done it several times over the years and plan another pass across this year... One of my favorite rides in the hot summer months because its so much cooler .... We pretty much roll along at 55 to 65 <---- Its not illegal unless you get caught  cooldude
