My friend, and VRCC member Jim Orr, is riding in the 2015 Iron Butt Rally.  For those that are interested, you can follow the daily updates at: http://www.ironbuttrally.com/IBR/2015.cfm

After the first leg of the event, Jim is in 8th place out of 86 riders .  You can see the standings in the day 5 update:  http://www.ironbuttrally.com/IBR/2015/Day5.pdf

Jim rode 3790 miles in the first 4 days, picking up 24 national parks, and 9 states.  The theme this year is national parks....

If you don't know what the Iron Butt Rally is all about, there is a primer in this update:  http://www.ironbuttrally.com/IBR/2015/Day-3.pdf

Apparently Jim is a hardcore rider, but he needs to stop doing that to his tire or he won't have enough tread left to complete the trip!   coolsmiley  Seriously that's a heck of an endeavor, I hope he kicks some iron butt and brings home the win!

I miss having Jim around. He's a good dude. Haven't seen him for four or five years. Ride on and ride safe.  cooldude

Jim Orr, now that's a name I haven't heard in a while....met Jim at one of the Robbers Cave Rides years ago....Jim started telling me about a extra reserve gas tank he had and how it had been setting in his garage for years...so I asked him if he wanted to sell it and he did, so I bought it, nice tank, sits on the luggage rack of a tourer or std. and holds 4 gals of gas with a no slosh foam interior...heh..heh, now its been sitting in my garage for years and still never been use...thanks Jim, sure have enjoyed moving it around all these years... An Interesting read.    Not something I would enjoy doing but, I like to stop and smell the roses once in a while on a trip.    In reference to the photo, I'm confused as to why someone would want to do such a maneuver.
