Independence Day of the United States, also referred to as Fourth of July or July Fourth in the U.S., is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire.[1] Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States. (Wikipedia)

Now, now, we just learned from the above youtube videos that we declared our independence from California in 1964 and that john wilkes booth and Jesse Ventura were the signers.
I still thinking whether or not that would be a good idea.

Woot! At our little fireworks display out in the country last night, the triplets finally passed the "Mom Test" for being old enough to hold their own sparklers, and had a great time doing it!

(Next challenge, them being old enough to pass the "Mom Test" for being old enough to shoot the rifles I bought 'em before they were born... Wink )

Well, the local pyromaniacs have been at it for hours.  While pitch dark, the street lights show a dense fog has descended on the neighborhood, but it's just black powder smoke.

Cannons to the right of me, cannons to the left of me.... I think it's the third battle of Manassas (Bull Run).   Grin

Yup, pretty much the same here. My white truck is covered in a layer of burnt paper and ashes. My wife woke me at 2:00am saying she heard gunshots. I said really? It's fireworks. She knows the difference, although I doubted her being the 4th.
Perfect time for someone to pop off a few rounds in disguise of fireworks? Undecided

I was at a gun show one year and this guy was trying to sell me some 7.62x39 incendiary rounds.  I said now what would I do with those.  He said well,  4th of July is coming up.

Tracers can be had in many rifle calibers.  Sometimes Pricy.  Can really start fires (where they come down).  Not sure it's good for a precision barrel.

But who cares in an SKS or AK out in the desert.

Every 3-5 rounds in a mag, it would really light the zombies up at night.   angel

I was in Tellico Plains, TN for the 4th.

Town Square, a few hundred people, live music, some square dancing, free water melon slices  cooldude

City folk don't know what they missed.

The bottom fell out just as the first fire works went off.  Watched the rest of them from the front seat of the truck.
