clutch oil

i have never changed over my clutch oil, but I know hydraulic oils loose there ability to perform.  is it a good idea to just bleed out a reservoir full so that the clutch has NEW fluid?

Yes, especially if it's gotten darker in color.

It is DOT 4 brake fluid.

It takes more than just the reservoir, as a slave cylinder is down below near the clutch.  The system needs to be flushed until you get clear fluid.  If the fluid is yellowish, or worse, it's time to flush.    Speed bleeders work fine for the clutch and brakes, others use different methods.  If air gets trapped, and the clutch doesn't function, there are tips to get it working again.  Do a search for the procedure.
