Are you talking about passing a stone [rock] from one person to another ?
Didn't think so.

When I was passing those 30 chunks of blasted kidney stone I couldn't even think about writing a post. 4 solid days of shear agony.

Wow, nope...never had that pleasure. If it's a gallstone, there are some places on the net where people swear by the "olive oil flush". Might be worth checking into. Good luck!

Yes, not fun. It's amazing something that small can incapacitate a man. Mine was calcium based and warned to stay away from those foods. (I haven't) but I'll surely kick myself if I pass another because I was warned.

Happily I haven't. But, one of my daughter-in-laws just spent 2 days in the hospital with one that had blocked her kidney. The doc said it was quarter size, he cut it up with a laser Friday morning. She's home now but still in agony waiting on the slurry to leave her body. The doc left another one that was just as big because it was embedded in the wall of her kidney. The hope is that it will stay there. Appears to be pure misery.

Passed more than I care to.  Stay hydrated.  And now that it appears you are working on passing one, drink fluids in large quantities and make sure to drink some beer to help with the hydration and flushing action......It also helps with the pain to some degree.  Passed 4 within a week last year, every other day....that was rough.

Some gallstones about the size of a grain of sand - I could NOT stand up without assistance from the wife.  Ever since then -  you cannot drink too much water (it's a self -correcting situation).... Fortunately - I've never had them again.

I desperately wanted to save mine, so it could be pasted to a target and shot with a .44 mag.

The dang thing was so tiny it was never recovered.  It certainly wasn't imaginary.

Good things do not always come in small packages.

@#$%^&*!!!!!

I know I ate and passed a number of coins and other small items as a small child without incident (except mom got pretty agitated about it).  They were all larger than a kidney stone.  (and yes, I understand the different plumbing issues)

I had a pill container with mine in, and noticed they got progressively larger.  I turned those into my Urologist and just recently started another rock collection.  No, I don't go diggin for em.....but have a strainer to catch em.

Oh....another tip....when you feel one coming down the plumbing, usually lower back kidney pain, in addition to drinking water/beer...... Remember to sit down to piss.  Sometimes the pain will drop you off your feet.  And falling to the sink corner with your head (the big one) could be dangerous.

Funny but serious.....

No too bad this time but a couple of years back, had 3 of them and the last one took 11 hours of fun.

Hope you get done with it soon  Sad

Dave,
My sincerest condolences for your situation.  I wouldn't wish this on Obama and I really don't like him.   Much less a good guy like you.

Almost wishing I hadn't opened this thread.    Sure hope that's sympathetic pains I'm feeling.  Wink

I had one so small we could not catch it years ago.  None since, THANK GOD!

Spent two days in the hospital.  Nurses at the hospital said about the most painful thing to have happen.

For anyone that has never had one of these I don't know what to tell ya? You can't describe the pain!  ??? (can you say morphene) These will make a whimp outa ya and put you in the hospital! Norco won't touch the pain! I'm in the process of passing 2 right now. One on the right and one on the left. Had one removed a year ago and it sucked! They are going after the one on the left and I have an appointment today with the urologist to figure out when. Right now would work!  The left one is stuck in my ureter and is 5.5mm X 3.5mm. That sum bitch hurts and will make you puke. I'm tryin to work but it isn't easy.
Looks like the ol stent will be in place again!   Shocked  CT says there are more in my kidneys, freakin wonderful!

Some of the chunks of mine were almost the size of a BB and rough as heck.

Youz guyz are starting to scare me again. I don't like the memories. I guess this a good reason to start drinking more beer than usual this morning.

Too many to list and it sucks every time.  If I have pain meds at home, I can usually manage them until they pass, but every once in while, YOWZA!

I try to drink about 3 quarts to a gallon a day.  It's very hard to do and I only succeed 50% of the time.  Weekends are tough to keep up with drinking cause I'm always doing something.  Diet is tough to follow as well.  Most are calcium-oxylate stones.  I read above someone is avoiding calcium, it's just the opposite.  It's easier to regulate the oxylates.  Oxylates are in dark drinks like cola and root beer, some green vegies like spinach, chocolate, etc.  Don't drink chocolate milk!

Passed more stones than I care to remember.  The last one took 4 weeks of misery to pass.
As my stone making worsened in 6 months 4 stones.  Then my urologist suggested I start taking potassium citrate 10mg twice daily.... 2 years+ stone free!!!!!!!!!

From the lab reports on 2 of the stones (makeup of both was exactly same size and weight were different).....
Calcium Oxalate Dihydrate (Weddellite) 95%
Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate (Whewellite) 5%

Thanks!
Here is the details on the potassium:
POTASSIUM CITRATE 10MEQ SA TAB

2 daily, 1 in the morning and one in the evening.
The Dr. did monitor my potassium levels after I started taking it for 4 weeks. Did a weekly blood test checking the potassium levels to make sure they didn't  go too high.

He was very thorough... did lots of tests to rule out any other possible underlying  causes before prescribing the Potassium.

I wasn't so cautious,,, I was getting tired of hurting which made me a bit impatient and my research revealed the Potassium Citrate "fix" and had started taking it 6 weeks before he prescribed it.
I continued to jump through the testing hoops >>> end result no underlying health issue causing the stones.
This is so much better than being a "stone maker-passer"

4 Years ago mine almost killed me. It was stuck and jelly bean size.
The stent wasnt so bad till they removed it.
Of course feeling like I would have to get better to die wasnt a bonus.
I guess some things from the middle ages are still in practise, like removing a stent.
Water, beer, coffie in profusion. Dude, I'm with ya.

I read your post about Kidney stones...had them twice myself..Happened to do some HVAC work at a health food store at the time and the owner had suffered thru them herself..she had done research on them and gave me an article that a Dr. had written on how to prevent/remove them.  "Black Cherry Concentrate"...get it at GNC , it is a thick syryp-like stuff that I mix about 4 tablespoons in an 8 ounce glass twice a day if I ever feel that stabbing pain in my back/groin/abdomen. Takes care of it every time... It's been proven that the acid in a Black Cherry is the only thing that will get thru to your kidneys to attack the stones..excess water ot cranberry juice just makes you pee alot..the Black Cherry concentrate disolves the stones...make sure you get the CONCENTRATE , just blacke cherry juice is too weak..I know she wasn't just trying to make a sale because she sent me to GNC and not her own store..I was goin to post this as a reply but I wanted to make certain you read it because they are not fun to have.

I needed to lose 10 lbs which was a good thing but a poor way to do it.

I am a kidney stone connoisseur! I have had 7. Every 4 months there for a while.

I got 'em licked now I think. Almost 2 years since I have had one.

Hydrate hydrate hydrate. Mine always come when I get lazy about hydration.

I've had one and that was enough for me. two months two surgeries later it was out. That STENT OMG. When the Dr put my feet in the stirrups  I thought he's an woman's Dr.  I'm having a pap smear. It was the worst thing possible. He must have used an automotive tool to fetch lost nuts and bolts in tight places . I think ( I know ) it was something I never want again. During one of many paramedic pickups to the emergency my blood pressure was 50/ something. I was real bad off. Wouldn't wish a stone on anybody.
