Maybe leave the rifle propped against the fence for when the bear comes back into the yard.  Could very well end up shooting itself.....or if you are of the liberal persuasion....maybe the gun will do it by itself.

and what a great pic of those four babies who ALL would give their lives protecting that little 3 yr old girl and the adults.
I guess that is why they were the first US Marine mascot
The American Pit Bull Terrier was America’s symbol of courage during WWI. They were the most decorated American war dog of WWI. The United States Marine Corp [USMC] mascot was the American Pit Bull Terrier.
http://www.arfusa.com/american_pitbull_terrier.htm
sometime after WWI the english bulldog became the mascot.

Pits have a long & distinguished history in public life. As I have written before, we have two and an English Bull Terrier. They are family pure and simple.

Those are some well trained dogs in a good home. They look at that little girl as one of their own and will protect her. My labs are the same way with my boys. One day I put a ski mask on while the boys were in the back playing and came around the corner to my 3 dogs growling and showing their teeth. If I wouldn't have said anything and not removed the mask I'm sure I would have been bitten.

You better believe if that was MY back yard, I'd have a 12 Gauge locked and loaded waiting by the door at ALL times...

Outside the reach of the child and/or dogs, of course.

“We’re not allowed to kill the bear"

I like nature and wildlife as much or more than the next man.  But if that bear kept climbing my fence into the backyard where my 3yo plays, he's gong to have a serious accident falling on a 30.06 round.
(probably not in my backyard)

Good doggies.

I was thinking the same thing. I love wildlife also, but that bear has been conditioned to people and it's going to end badly if it isn't put down.

We're talking New Jersey. Anyone who owns a gun is a criminal and crazy. Keep a rock pile by the back door. Yeah, that'll work.

Not enough to shoot the bear trespassing
you ve got to be able to dispose of the evidence (de bear)

Since the meadowlands has been dug up (where the heck IS Hoffa anyway?)
that means concrete booties for the bear dumped in the Delaware river
or Newark or Bayonne Bay
I agree tho............good doggies indeed

Could not you just say the bear charged you and you acted in self defense ? With no witnesses of course.
