I just don't wrench on my bike, so pardon my lack of insight (if you saw my home improvement projects, you would recommend I get someone else to take care of my ride)

Is the clutch lever adjustable on my 1997 Valk?  I need to do something, and finger extensions, a cure for arthritis or putting in a automatic transmission all seem...extreme  Smiley

If you have stock levers, no. There are a few adjustable levers available that can be made to work, with a few alterations. Go to shop talk page, and type in adjustable levers, and  you should be able to fine a few threads that describe the process cooldude

Add your location to your page, and maybe someone near you will volunteer to help you install them

I have a set of Goldwing adjustable levers that I put on and then took off my other Interstate before I sold it.  They are adjustable, and fit fine once the tab is cut off.  I have not put them on my current ride because I have other grips and levers on it.  I do have the chrome adjustable levers for sale locally on CL but not in the classifieds.  Also have a set of new Kury 6190 grips for sale as well,,,,I went with heated grips on my IS now.

for a 1997?

Yes.  There is a small square post on the clutch lever.  When comparing it to your stock lever you will see it.  All you need is a hacksaw blade.  Cut it off flush and it's good to go.  It's very soft metal and will take all of 10 seconds to remove.

Are adjustable levers and wide blade levers the same? As soon as I get another Valk I purchase wide blade levers because they are much easier on my delicate hands. (giggle giggle)

I believe Kuryakyn (and perhaps others) has both non-adjustable chrome wide levers (for Valk) that are straight bolt ups, as well as adjustable chrome levers (that are just as wide) for 1800 wings that need the tab cut off.

Here are the instructions for modification of the 1800 adjustable levers. (Pay attention to the note at the end about having your brake light switch sticking on briefly after letting off the lever, I had the same problem)
http://forums.delphiforums.com/valkyrie/messages/?msg=13360.1

The link to Wingstuff levers (made by Add On) does not work anymore.... here it is.  http://wingstuff.com/products/36601-adjustable-wide-brake-clutch-levers-for-gl1800?from_search=1

The Kuryakyn part number is # 7436.

I think Show Chrome also makes a set.

The wide non adjustable chrome levers from Kuryakyn are part number #  7429

IMHO, even with small hands, the wide chrome non-adjustable levers are nearly as good (shorter reach than stock) as the adjustable levers (except perhaps on the one or two shortest reach settings).
