Daddy O has recently said some very negative things about the Confederate flag some would say very abusive.  I see this as A passionate cry for help from the DaddyO. For just ten cents a month you will be able to purchase the Daddy, one red 5x Valkyrie confederate flag t shirt to proudly wear for all his Cali friends.  Linguistic coaching for his new southern accent to rid him of his bland, irritating California drone.  And a free weekend of riding with Smoking Joe and the wild bunch for his new re education on correct thinking in the Smokey mountains. WON'T you please help?  A mind is a terrible thing.   Please send your donation to:       Daddy O Valkyrie confederate flag T shirt fund,  P.O. BOX 666, Political Correctness, California.  Thank You.

The Confederate Flag.

The Battle Flag.

The Confederate flag on top is the true Stars & Bars often incorrectly identified as the Battle
Flag below. The flag below is also incorrectly identified as the Battle Flag of Northern Virginia. It is actually the Battle Flag of the Army of Tennessee. The Battle Flag of Northern Virginia is square.

The flag below is now days flown the Flag of the South or Rebel flag.

Fly it with pride and your flying it right. cooldude

I thought the battle flag that is square was of Northern Virginia not West Virginia? Didn't West Virginia side with the Union ?

You are right, I meant Northern Virginia, not West Virginia. That's how they got divided.

Corrected it. Thanks. I need some sleep.

The Yankees occupied the part of Virginia that became known as West Virginia early in
the war, it wasn't like they "sided" with the North...

Hard to say."Delegates from 50 counties voted to form a separate state."

Like all states in the US, there were people who supported both sides.  I do not know what % in WV supported each side.  I bet close to 50-50?

Robert E. Lee was put in charge of the western part of Virginia at
the outset of the war. During that time, the seriousness of what was
going on, the hardships and sacrifices that citizens would need
to endure, were not realized by the people who needed to
support the troops... people didn't "snap to"... needed and
requested preparations were not made... urgency was not
felt...

Mr. Davis, in an address before a memorial meeting at
Richmond in 1870, speaking of General Lee in this cam-
paign, said:

" He came back, carrying the heavy weight of defeat,
and unappreciated by the people whom he served, for they
could not know, as I knew, that, if his plans and orders
had been carried out, the result would have been victory
rather than retreat. You did not know it; for I should
not have known it had he not breathed it in my ear only
at my earnest request, and begging that nothing be said
about it. The clamour which then arose followed him
when he went to South Carolina, so that it became neces-
sary on his departure to write a letter to the Governor of
that State, telling him what manner of man he was. Yet,
through all this, with a magnanimity rarely equalled, he
stood in silence, without defending himself or allowing
others to defend him, for he was unwilling to offend any
one who was wearing a sword and striking blows for the
Confederacy."

I think a good use of your confederate flag would be to dry your tears.  Either that or it could make some mighty fine asswipe.
