For most of us growing up anyone who ever heard of the game of football knew of The Snake and those Oakland Raiders. It was great as a kid watching The Snake when he was on TV in our area.

In the link below is a news of his passing and a brief video of some old game footage.

Our old arch enemy from the rockin' 70's, but an incredibly worthy opponent of the Denver Broncos.
Great games from that Oakland era led by Stabler; a real maverick on the Raiders' teams that were made up of renegades and castoffs, assembled by Darth Vader (Al Davis) and coached by John ("Take that, Fat Man!") Madden.  Great offense and tenacious defense from those teams.  Every game with Oakland was war and the best team of that day usually won.  Love'em or hate'em it was exciting football; run and gun.

Ken Stabler, a true credit to his position and a character in the locker room; may you take your rest with respect and honor. angel
