Figure the best way to get started is to say hello! I'm Nate, just bought my first Valkyrie. It's a 1999 1500 Interstate. IT's my 8th bike in total and I came from a Suzuki Volusia previously that literally blew up. Well, the motor did anyways and I wasn't riding it when it happened.

Thus far it's taken some getting used to since it's a touch larger than I'm used to but it's a MUCH nicer ride than anything else I've been on. I ride with the Blue Knights down here in Georgia as well. I've got a bunch of questions about stuff on the bike (no owners manual obviously) and I'm looking forward to picking your brains!
Ride safe, Rubber side down!

I appreciate the welcome! My main question is about the audio hookups and so forth with this beast. I know what the headphone jack looks like as far as driver to passenger communication...but this one has a 3.5mm jack as well. I thought it was an auxiliary input I could plug my phone into for GPS and such but that doesnt work at all...So what would the jack be for?

Secondly - Has anyone replaced the stock radio with an aftermarket one, and what kind of aftermarket radio would even work for this bike?

That's an aux input for the output of an audio device, MP3, iPod, etc. I ran a cord from a mount on the handlebars to the jack under the side cover, but finally moved everything to the trunk. You shouldn't need a different radio; the stock is more than adequate. Do a search on the manual, and you should find the operating instructions; You have the best year Valk, by the way, but I'm prejudiced... never mind, don't want to hijack this thread!

Did you check in the battery compartment for the Manual?  If not you can order them from a Honda dealer for around $20.

First, welcome to our little world. I'm sure you'll find a wealth of information here. I know I certainly have.

There are several manual's on eBay right now. Here's one that looks a bit worn, but it's only $19.99

Good luck with your new (new to you) toy, I'm sure you're gunna love it!  cooldude

Welcome and congrats on the new Valk.

On my pre-owned Interstate the owners manual was velcro'd in the left saddlebag.

Hi N8 and welcome!  Take your time getting acquainted with your girl; you'll soon discover she's very agile for her size.

It's been fun to spin around thus far, plus my wife is MUCH MUCH more comfortable on it since it's like a lazy boy on wheels! Time to make it a little louder :-)
